☘KathyD☘, Trea, Ezi & Logan ~ Night Huntress series

I spent the past three days reading this and Rescuing the Bad Boy. This is the book that determined that audiobooks just don't work for me. I tried listening to it at the dentist's office, but I just couldn't focus on it and had to go back and re-read what I listened to!It was an ok read for me, maybe 3 stars. It ended rather abruptly, until I realized that my Kindle copy had a formatting error and put the excerpt before the epilogue! There's a lot to process in this story and I'm not sure I can see where things are going.
So you didn't enjoy
? I'm not listening to this series because I dislike Tavia Gilbert in most aifiobooks

Ezinwanyi~Boo boo kitty wrote: "So you didn't enjoy

For example, Bones has his moment, then Cat ups and quits working for Don, yet she calls him after every little thing. It wasn't clear to me if she got her job back or not. What happened with the Max situation? Why was it never addressed that Cat took over Bones' line and dealt with all the challenges that ensued over it? It was the little details that seemed to have gotten lost in all the action, but that's what hung me up the most. I wanted to know about those details!
I'm behind on the series at the moment. I might get to Devil to Pay this month, but not Destined for an Early Grave. I'll chalk that up for next month!
I think at this point, I'm the only one reading these on a monthly basis anymore, and I'm almost wishing I had skipped it this month. I really didn't like Destined for an Early Grave at all! The previous book was less than stellar for me too, and it's a major disappointment!Destined is full of angst that I felt was largely unnecessary. Why couldn't Cat just sit down and have a good long talk with Bones and Mencheres? Why the hiding? Of course, them keeping secrets isn't the greatest thing either, but seriously! Not to mention, Cat's still running to her Uncle to solve problems instead of dealing with them herself. Don't even get me started on the twist with Cat's mom! Why did that even have to happen?!?
At this point, I'm going to lower the priority on these a bit, as hopefully you'll both be able to join me in reading them, more than me just talking about them at the end of each one I read. I'll do the Magic Graves book this month, and we'll see where next month takes me in terms of First Drop of Crimson.
I didn't read this month but this one was my favorite of the whole series :(
Cat just makes bad decisions after bad decisions because deep down she still sees vampires as the bad guys. Bones is the exception. So her default is to trust humans.
I always hated her Uncle. I never warmed to him in this series. eVery single thing he did, everything was self-serving. Not one truely selfless act was shown to Cat.
I don't like Magic graves, but I will read First Drop with you because I really liked it

In this one, Cat seemed to be more like a child than the adult she actually was. Maybe it was the age 16 regression, but still, it wasn't a satisfying read for me.
I think Magic Graves gives us closure on the events of Reckoning, which is one of the few redeeming qualities of it. The Justine storyline is the other redeeming quality of the story, as I wasn't expecting the twist that came with her and want to see where things go. Not to mention, I want to see Vlad get a girl, I really like him!
I never liked Justine and never will. I never like Don.
I thought Bones deserved better than Cat, but hey, she is what/who he wanted.
I never cared for Mencheres either.
I loved Vlad and Ian and Spade

Vlad is a definite favorite, but I really don't have opinions on Ian and Spade. While I don't like what Justine has done in the past, I can appreciate how the tables have been turned on her and want to see what happens with it.

Ezi and Logan, if you're still watching this thread, ☘KathyD☘ and I will be reading a few of these books in September, starting with This Side of the Grave. You're welcome to chatter with us about it!
☘KathyD☘, I might be able to use this book for SS this coming week, but I have to see what we roll on Friday. If I can use it, would you be adverse to reading the first book on September 2nd?Also, how many books were you looking to get through on the series this month?
That's where I am in the series too so that works out perfectly. I will probably be able to use it for SS but we may roll out of the 50s. Either way I'll join you!

nope! just let me know and i'll start it on Thursday or Friday...in theory, i'd like to get through
...but we'll see how the month goes! =)

...but we'll see how the month goes! =)"All righty...we'll play it by ear then! I do know I'll need a break in between the books...reading these back to back is tough for me!
Logan wrote: "I can use this for my SS roll so let me know if you want to start sometime this week."My SS roll hasn't happened yet, so I'll have to let you know on that.
Logan wrote: "I can use this for my SS roll so let me know if you want to start sometime this week."We finally got to roll and this fits for my SS roll too! I can start as early as tomorrow, if that works for you ladies?
OMG 20% in..."Ask me if I sparkle and I'll kill you where you stand..." ROFLMAO! I like vampires that sparkle, thank you very much!
Trea wrote: "OMG 20% in..."Ask me if I sparkle and I'll kill you where you stand..." ROFLMAO! I like vampires that sparkle, thank you very much!"about as good as asking how many people with restraining orders are waiting for me!
i swear i almost fell off my bed laughing this afternoon!
If the roll holds up, my SSS team just rolled a 6, placing us on spot 66. Since I read the only other 6th book in a series already, I'll wind up reading book 6 for this Sunday's roll. Gotta have it done by Wednesday, so I'll be reading this one immediately after I finish book 5.
I can keep going too. Timmie is back! It's been awhile since I read the last few books so I don't remember exactly when we last saw him but I was excited for his return. He may be annoying but he seems harmless.
I was happy to see Timmy again also! He was so sweet, but you're right--he was a little annoying. =)
I finished book 5 almost an hour ago now...it was ok, mostly boring to me, but the one liners and Marie really saved it from a 1 star rating for me. The blurb for the next book looks interesting though!
I have to agree it wasn't the best book of the series. The last few chapters saved it for me, as well as the one liners! I jumped in on the next book since you ladies are also jumping right in! =)
I've gotten about halfway through book 6, and wound up with a nightmare last night because of it! Definitely a Halloween book, and a spooky one! It's a lot more interesting to me than the last book was, that's certain!
Yikes!! Thanks for the update!! I'm glad I'll be listening to it at work and not at home in the dark before bed! =)
☘KathyD☘ wrote: "Yikes!! Thanks for the update!! I'm glad I'll be listening to it at work and not at home in the dark before bed! =)"I'll be reading it later today in a well lit library!

Good plan! Maybe take along some garlic and weed?!

*laughs* Nah, I should be ok!
Glad to know it isn't just me. I'm not that into book 5. I just finished the elevator sequence and interrogation with the ghouls in NOLA. The power dynamics are coming across a little like the reduced fat version of Kate Daniels.

I wasn't super into it until the 3rd book. I was glad I stuck with it because the world building takes way less time in later books. The first one felt pretty clunky.
Logan wrote: "I wasn't super into it until the 3rd book. I was glad I stuck with it because the world building takes way less time in later books. The first one felt pretty clunky."Yeah, that's what got me in that one...I haven't gone back to it, but keep the idea on the WAY back burner!
Finished #6 last night...it was good until the very abrupt ending! My Kindle copy was messed up and the epilogue was after the excerpts for the next books, I just wasn't impressed with that ending! Is anyone reading the novella?
it did end rather abruptly! other than that i really enjoyed this book!i have the novella on deck to read, but probably not for a few days...
did anyone read the novella? i enjoyed it! it was a quick "read" (as i listened)...i'm hoping the squeeze Up From the Grave in before the 30th...but i'm not to jazzed to read Outtakes from the Grave...if i can knock out the next book, i'll feel like i finished this series...i'll listen to outtakes over the next month or so though.
☘KathyD☘ wrote: "did anyone read the novella? i enjoyed it! it was a quick "read" (as i listened)...i'm hoping the squeeze Up From the Grave in before the 30th...but i'm not to jazzed to read ..."No, I was waiting for you to say you'd be ready to read it. I won't be able to fit it or Up From the Grave in by the end of the month, sadly...
☘KathyD☘ wrote: "Oh no...I'm so sorry! I didn't realize you were waiting on me... =("Yeah, your line on the 7th that said "i have the novella on deck to read, but probably not for a few days...", implied to me that you'd come in and say that you were ready to read it. It's not a big deal, I did get some progress on the series this month!
