⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I say we play this like our last buddy reads: you tell me when you're ready to start it, and I'll get to it the very next thing.

Only things I have going on is The League series, which we haven't set up September's read yet, and the Fatal Series Group read for RLftCI.

I'm still planning on reading Reckoning before you say go on Halfway to the Grave, so I'm hoping to get it done by the end of next week sometime.

Ok. Let me know when you finish reckoning. It was boring to me

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I've been busy today! Finished up the dregs of Rescue Team, re-read One Night with You, wrote up the discussion questions for it for RLftCI, started Fatal Affair by reading 1 chapter, moved to Reckoning and finished it, and wrote the review for it! Like I said, busy day.

When would you like to read Halfway to the Grave? My line up for planned reads is:
1. Fatal Affair (Must finish by Sept 3)
2. Gods and Kings (Must read before Sept 15)
3. The Preacher's Bride (Must read before Sept 15)
4. Born of Silence (Must start Sept 7)

Other than that, my month is open.

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I started this this morning. I have the audiobook for it, so I tried to get into it that way and just couldn't. I hated the narrator!

Cat strikes me as amusing, and while I didn't think of it in Reckoning, Bones so reminds me of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

Do NOT listen to this book. Read it. Tavia Gilbert mangles and emasculates Bones. Ugh!

Yeah, I gave up on listening to it, and that was the only audiobook I had for the series!

That being said, I just finished it. You're right, it was much better than Reckoning. There were some flaws in it for me, so I can't give it 5 stars. I think it is a solid 4 star read, though. It will be interesting to see where things go from here. I'll review it in the morning.

Halo Kitten---I freaking loved that. I can just imagine his accent in my head.

I hated Cat's mother. How selfish and self centered she was. Also her grandparents must have known what she was up to. I mean, my grandma was nosy as hell. You mean to tell me they didn't know she was gone at night and coming back with blood or dressed in non-clean clothes

I kept picturing Spike and his accent every time Bones talked! Since James Marsters is rather drool worthy for me, it totally worked.

I hated her mother and grandparents as well. Cat's mom was making her pay for the sin of her lineage, and it always came across as if she never really loved Cat.

I immediately wanted to know Bones' reaction to Cat's leaving, so I think I rather enjoyed it!

book 2 gets better.

I hated the PTF unit and you will see why. They had no problem blackmailing her to use for their own purposes.

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Guess I'll have to wait for next month, LOL! I'm saying let's get to it early, though. I figure the Fatal group read will be on the 1st through 3rd again, but I say let's pencil this in for right after that. This was good, and I'm glad I picked up the entire series when it was on sale!

If you're talking about that Marliss Melton Seal Team 12 book, then yeah, I totally support your decision in not reading it. I gave it 2 stars.

Fatal wasn't bad, really. I ranted and raved about the time difference between One Night with You and it, as I read the prequel first. Some folks in the thread were comparing it to and Eve Dallas and Roarke vibe, but I just couldn't see it. Of course, it's been ages since I read an In Death novel.

Back before I was on GR, I read a good bit of the In Death books. From what I can piece together, I think I have read through book 23 or 24. They got too repetitive for me, and I needed a chart to keep track of the characters! I just didn't want to put in that effort, you know?

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) Are you up for this one this month? I know there is a lot on your plate, but I figured I'd ask.

Here's my Month:
1. Fatal Justice by Marie Force (October 1) (Completed)
2. Cloak and Silence by Sherrilyn Kenyon (October 7)
3. Heart of Venom by Jennifer Estep (Completed)
4. The Spider by Jennifer Estep (October 4)
5. Poison Promise by Jennifer Estep (October 11?)
6. Black Widow by Jennifer Estep (October 18?)
7. Spider's Trap by Jennifer Estep (October 25?)

The dates with Question marks are tentative. Nichole and I are buddy reading the rest of the Gin Blanco series, because she got it for FWYS, and I wanted it for mine. Plus, I needed the extra push to finish it out. Our plan is to read one a week for each week of the month, but she's steering the ship on that one, as she really only needs to read two of the books in the series for FWYS.

Also, do you want to do Skin Deep and Seduction Game after the 20th or push it off until November?

I'll start that Fatal Affair (Fatal, #1) by Marie Force tomorrow. So I can catch up with the group. Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr wasn't enjoyable to me.

I'd like to read One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost this week.

We can push Pamela Clare next month

Ok, I'll plan for Pamela next month.

I decided to drop out of the Fatal Group Read over in RLftCI. Justice picks up right where Affair leaves off and I really don't want to be tied down to a once a month read for it if they are that close together events wise. If I can get to Consequences this month, I plan to do so.

How about we read One Foot in the Grave on the 9th, since I have The Spider on the 4th, and Cloak and Silence on the 7th? I might be able to put it between Spider and Cloak though, if you need it earlier.

Yeah, but what about her doing 4 years of vampire executions for the government? One would think they would have mandatory training on a weekly or daily basis, so I don't think it is total BS, but the strength thing is definite BS. Unless...what about the Brahms? Since it is made from vampire blood, could extended usage of it give the strength increases we're seeing in Cat so that she can take Ian down? Heck, later on we're seeing that it is harder for her to stop drinking the vampire blood!

I think it's romantic! She's paying homage to him, to their love, in the only way she can, by carrying his name. Is she trying to send a signal to him? Probably. I think, deep down, she was hoping he'd find her.

And yeah, her mother is a real piece of work. Not too pleased with her still. Can she get dead yet? Please!

I actually like Tate. He jsut had the misfortune of falling in love with a woman who is goo-goo gaa-gaa over someone else. Book 3&4 are my favorite in teh series.

I love Bones. I love when he says "Hallo Kitten". That's so sexy.

Tate's an ass. It's not just misfortune of falling in love with Cat, it's his prejudice against any undead creature, even when they prove that they are not going to kill him. I think he gets his just desserts, though, when Annette says she can claim him as property because he slept with her!

I love Bones too! I swear, I picture James Marsters playing Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer every time he pops up! I just wish that there was a decent narrator for it, cause this is one series I'd listen to, just for his voice!

Oh, I got pissed about Don! I was hoping Cat would quit over it, but alas, no. However, I have to wonder how much Cat's bitch of a mother would run to him if she knew he was brother to the man that "raped" her.

And what's with that whole situation anyway? Is Max lying when he says it started out consensual? Spoilers are ok here...
