Hello all! I am very new here. So please bare with me as I become familiar with the rules and process of everything. I figured I'd take a go at this here. Please support me by posting ratings. This is my first published work which is loosely based on my life growing up with a mother who is HIV positive.
An 80’s baby born in the slum of Richard Allen Projects to a drug addicted mother and drunken father. Azhar Washington’s fierce, sassy, and undoubtedly witty persona is a natural reaction, as Azhar discovers very early on that life is one hell of a bitch. At just ten years old she’s introduced to three letters that will scar her for life; HIV. Azhar’s mother’s positive status is just the beginning of her endless nightmare called life. From being sold for drugs as an infant, to discovering the ugly truth behind her mother’s and father’s love triangle which resulted in her father murdering his brother. By the time Azhar reaches high school, her mind has developed the perfect coping mechanism-DID.
A Beautiful Struggle

Lola the Buhund and the Empty Sky
https://www.inkshares.com/projects/lola-the-buhund-and-the-empty-sky
A talking farm dog living in a fantasy world without natural daylight has to uncover where the sun, moon and stars went. Joined in her journey by a carpenter, a musician, and a chicken; Lola has a rough road ahead of her to unravel the truth.
---------
Born into a Cold and Dark World
Rejected by her mother as a pup, Lola is raised by a reclusive carpenter a decade and a half into one of her world's most trying times. The world of Lumea went dark thirteen years before her birth – the sun, moon, and stars vanishing from the sky without a trace. In a harsh and inhospitable environment, it seems only the country of Prithvi has managed to survive.
Never knowing what the world was before, Lola and her human are thrust into a journey to uncover where the world's light has gone. Gifted the ability to speak by a spell gone awry and joined by a party of colorful characters; the road ahead of her is filled with monsters, evil spirits, and the soldiers of a cruel and selfish monarch.

Hi guys! Guess I should have done this awhile ago...Dax Harrison
by Tony Valdez

https://www.inkshares.com/projects/da...
----
In a space-faring future, an alien war criminal seeks vengeance on humanity, and a celebrated-but-bumbling hero is forced back into action... whether he likes it or not.
----
Dax Harrison - Hero. Legend. ...Schmuck.
Ten years ago, Commander Dax Harrison saved humanity from an invading alien race bent on enslaving the galaxy.
Or so we’ve been told.
The details are fuzzy, as the legend of Commander Harrison has been exaggerated through years of pulp novels, made-for-TV movies and so on.
These days, Dax spends his time not-so-humbly enjoying his fame, counting royalty checks and coasting his way toward retirement.
But as he counts the days until he can disappear on a beach somewhere, fate has other plans.
A dangerous shadow from the past puts a wrench in Dax's easygoing existence, and he is forced to finally live up to his legend, whether he likes it or not.

Hi, I am Sean SM Hillman and I have a novel I have entered into the latest Sword & Laser contest on Inkshares.https://www.inkshares.com/projects/th...
It is character driven (and plot driven) military science fiction that questions the human ways of war when applied on the galactic scale.
>>Jennifer Rodriguez has served the Solar Republic for twenty years and lead its spacers in a dozen battles. Now the war with the Ozaergothe has hit a lull and the Solar Republic may soon vote to separate into smaller nations. With her ship in dry dock and doubts about her last battle, Jennifer has a little too much time on her hands.
But the Admiralty has a job for its best captain. Their allies, the Bo'laer Alliance are excellent in battle but their war with the Ozaergothe has dragged on for centuries. By comparison the humans have made huge progress in a short amount of time. So Jennifer Rodriguez is sent alone to an alien world where she must teach several Alliance misfits the human ways of war. But the veteran soldier has her own doubts about humanity and wonders if spreading that knowledge is the right thing to do.<<
Definitely take a look. Chapter One is already up as a rough first draft. If interested, go ahead and grab your copy today!
Thank You
Sean SM Hillman

The short elevator pitch: A child's book about (and possibly for) adults who occasionally behave like one. Exploring the mind-altering phenomenon known as the election year.
The longer pitch in case the elevator gets stuck
It happens, every day, often without warning. Normal grown adults — completely capable ones who do things like work in an office, pay bills on time and help their children with their homework — engage in a discussion, often by accident, about politics.
At least, it starts as a discussion. More often than anyone cares to admit, it descends into an argument, a blowout and eventually a volleyball match of personal attacks and insults these bill-paying, job-working, homework-helping, ostensibly fully together adults didn't even know they had in them. If you haven't been that person, you likely have met, befriended, worked with, crossed the street to avoid, unfollowed, been related to or perhaps even married that person. You'll know soon enough, because during election season, that person is about as hard to avoid as the politicians they're arguing about. (If you don't know if you are that person or not ... you might be that person. Sorry you had to find out this way.)
Sometimes, the only thing you can do is shake your head and laugh at it, which is what this colorfully illustrated book (sample pages below) aims to do. We will not probe the human condition or explore the biological processes that compel us to sabotage our otherwise pleasant days and good moods in the name of winning an argument no one ever wins. The only goal here, as another election year descends on us and threatens to pull yet another promising leap year into the darkness, is to marvel at how absurd these arguments can get. So let's put aside our differences (for 50-something pages at least) and do that.

Short blurb:
A down and dirty chef and her starchy ex-mother-in-law must bond when a crisis threatens a member of the family.
Longer blurb (in case you're stuck in that same elevator with Billy O'Keefe!)
Susan Jones, a harried, over-worked line cook at a swank Boston restaurant, has made a sort of mess of her life. Divorced and estranged from her teenage son, she sometimes ponders ending it all but before she does she wonders if she should try one more time making a connection with Henry, who lives in California with his Grandmother, Edith Vale, but attends boarding school not far from where Susan lives. Susan arrives unexpectedly at Henry's door, and he's not exactly excited to see her. In fact he's about to fly back to California just after taking his last finals. When Susan offers a cross-country road trip, Henry, not eager to see his father any time soon, accepts. But what begins as an odyssey of mother/son reconciliation soon takes an unexpected turn, and soon this fractured family must rally behind one of their own.

Infinity Mind
Patrick Jamison
Short Blurb:
Slave to an oppressive government on a Martian colony, Mason, a telepathic assassin, must break his conditioning before he murders his wife.
Long Blurb:
Mason is a non-violent protester against the dictatorial government of Raquel Velasquez, the reigning leader of El Dorado, the oldest and most secluded colony on Mars. For his actions, he is thrown in jail, beaten to within an inch of his life, then recorded as dead.
Waking up in a lab, Mason soon discovers the government’s ulterior motives for his arrest when he realizes he has been surgically altered to have telepathic abilities. He is the first success in an ongoing experiment to create unstoppable assassins -- a telepathic police force that will quell all resistance to the Velasquez regime. Despite his resistance, he succumbs to the brainwashing techniques of his new master, Oduya, the right hand man to Velasquez.
Oduya, the project’s mastermind, is a terrifying man on his own. With a past both dark and dangerous, he has his own motives for creating telepathic agents, motives that could have deadly consequences. Mason is sent on missions to eliminate all individuals who threaten Velasquez’s government -- many of whom were former colleagues -- but when his next mission is to eliminate his wife, Sabina, remnants of his old self create a war that jeopardizes his programming.
Will Mason break free and rise up against the dangerous man whose control extends far deeper than the grasp he has on Mason’s mind? His actions, for good or ill, will define a new political era and a power that extends to the infinite depths of the mind.

Short Blurb
A retro-futurist pulp space opera starring a daring female secret agent on a mission to save the galaxy! Sixties spy movies meets classic science fiction serials!
Longer Blurb
On New Year’s Day in the year 1970, the planet Earth was scorched and made uninhabitable by a mysterious alien terrorist force known only as the "Cleansing". A benevolent race of beings saved over a quarter of the world’s population as well as many of the planet’s animals, cultural artifacts and history and relocated them to a massive space station on the far side of the Earth’s moon. The humans called it Avalon.
Fifty years later, the human race has flourished on Avalon, which has now become a hub for humanoid aliens from throughout the galaxy. The remnants of humanity adopted what they believed to be the height of their culture and history...the aesthetics of the 1960’s.
Penelope "Penny" Thorne is a secret agent for the A.I.S. (Avalon Intelligence Service) tasked with recovering a cryopod containing MIT scientist Dr. Anita Baxter, who was frozen in 1969 before the world ended. The military forces of the "Sons of Mars", made up of humans who deserted Avalon and embraced the idea of galactic domination, are eager to recover the scientist by any means necessary...but, why? What secrets could a scientist from 1960’s Earth hold that could possibly catapult the galaxy into war? And how does this tie into the mysterious faction that laid waste to the Earth in the first place?

Face-Melting Trailer
The Life Interstellar Trailer
Short Blurb
Sarya Vald is the galaxy’s worst nightmare: a Human. Fortunately, she’s the last one. Adopted and raised by marauders, she will terrorize the tradeways, come to grips with Humanity, and even meet God Itself in her quest to restart the Human species.
Longer Blurb
The Life Interstellar is a rip-roaring, unapologetic space opera. It’s set in a crowded galaxy at some undetermined point in the future where the Humans, sadly, have been exterminated. No one seems to know what happened to them, a fact which only adds to their mystique. What kind of intelligence could wipe out four trillion beings in a single Galactic year and yet make each death look like an accident? From novas to starship crashes to an isolated escalator incident on Braka IV, what made the Humans so special–or so frightening–that they warranted such treatment?
This is how legends are born. Humans have been the boogeymen of the galaxy for hundreds of years now; these days it would be difficult to find someone who didn’t know a good Human horror story. Lately, though, a different sort of legend has arisen. Ships have returned from the less-traveled tradeways of the Rim, missing cargo and crew members but bearing tales of a new band of smugglers and pirates, headed by a captain who looks a lot like the galaxy’s worst nightmare: a real-live Human.

------
A group of soldiers are thrown together on a mission to raid the enemy stronghold and make off with a precious resource. A’arilon Ray suspects it’s a suicide mission but it is just the beginning of a much greater adventure.
------
In the far future on a mirror Earth, 183 years after a world-wide nuclear holocaust and the collapse of human civilization, two sides are locked in an interminable war of attrition. The conflict began just before the dawn of artificial intelligence. Two aliens of different races -- Darek Marseh (pronounced 'Marse') and Arak Matar -- arrived on the planet with an army of Matar’s progeny (the correns) in cryogenic tow. Their mission had two satisfactory outcomes: prevent the AI singularity or -- if the humans would not abandon their technological folly -- exterminate them.
Even without the extra-terrestrial threat, strong ideological objections among humans to the "perversity" of genetic and bio-mechanical engineering -- and to artificial intelligence -- further inflamed an already raging, world-wide religious war. The introduction of two alien species to Earth only exacerbated the extreme fatalism that gripped humanity. Opponents to AI pervaded every level of world government and they threatened to nuke the major cities of any nation whose scientists would not desist in its pursuit. Terrorists seized upon this opportunity to detonate their own nuclear bomb in London, which sparked a global nuclear war. The Blight, as it came to be known, did Marseh’s job for him. Humanity blitzed itself into the dark ages and eliminated 80% of its population.
Ten-billion humans were reduced to two-billion in three days. Nuclear winter blanketed the planet. Nearly everything died: the animals, the plants, hundreds of millions more humans. One-hundred-eighty-three years later, Marseh is the steward of a dying planet and is weary of perpetual war and death. He is estranged from his co-conspirator, Matar, who has amassed an army of loyal correns. Matar wants eradicate humanity, so Marseh sets a plan in motion to end the conflict forever.
The first step: assassinate Arak Matar.

S.E. Soldwedel has been drawing since he could first wield a pencil. "Disintegration" began as sketches and renderings of a world that burgeoned with each new creation. After reaching a certain plateau with drawing, he discovered that he could convey everything he wished to illustrate by using words.
"Disintegration" draws from varied sources: Elmore Leonard, Arthur C. Clarke, world history, "Aliens," action-adventure odyssey tales and pulp noir, to name a few. It is a story about perseverance in the wake of an apocalypse, and the will to defy the threat of extermination

--------------------
A tale of a simple trip around the world that escalated into some weird and wonderful moments that you won’t believe could happen to one guy.
-------------------
Following the end of a relationship and a job that didn’t work out, I decided I needed something to work toward and it was then that I decided to embark on a journey to Australia to see a close friend. The trip then evolved to take in several other places and before I knew it I was off on an extended holiday around the world.
Just before leaving I was given an awesome journal by a close friend to keep me busy. After the unbelievable experiences of my first day out of Europe I decided I should put it to use. I recorded all of the adventures and mishaps in great detail, along with plenty of doodles, I collected lots of trinkets and took plenty of photos along the way.
This autobiographical piece contains details of that infamous experience of that first night outside of Europe, as well as three near death experiences, crossing a cobra in the jungle, overcoming the hike of Milford Sound having had most of the supplies stolen, losing surf lesson funds by gambling it away on the crab racing and many more hilarious tales.

Jamie Eddy is a 29 year old Accountant and Dance teacher. After being mugged and left for dead, he pulled himself to safety but suffered severe hypothermia and was admitted to hospital. It was touch and go but he pulled through and decided not to waste this second chance at life and write the book he had been putting off for a while. GOING HOME...After Malcolm Tate and his family were faced with the death of one of their own, the world erupts into total chaos and race rioting. The only thing to do? Form an International Committee for Peace. Their solution? International repatriation.
But Malcolm has a plan…
In 2016, a black man is brutally killed after being accused of his white fiancée’s murder. Their deaths result in rallies, rioting and the formation of the International Committee for Peace whose only task is to restore law and order to the world. However, their solution is international repatriation going back 10 generations – one that does not work in everyone’s favor. A father’s love causes Malcolm Tate to devise a plan to save his family from an ill thought out world decree. But as it unfolds, it becomes clear that, to save his family, he would need to embrace the heritage he had abandoned years before and return to the Lakota tribe. His unexpected death prevents him from seeing the plan through to the end, but, left in the hands of his feisty 12 year old daughter Ebony, maybe the Tates could reverse the decision after all. The question is, will she?
Racial tension, legacy and generational birthright all play crucial parts in this intricately woven story of a family on the verge of mandatory repatriation. Near completion at 40,000+ words, Going Home is the first in a series of books geared towards the young adult reader. With its provocative scenes and pertinent topics, this is an emotional and dramatic fiction novel that has been influenced by the writing style of Harper Lee and To Kill a Mockingbird.
My name is Natasha Maughan and this is my first attempt at writing. I’ve been married for eight years and we have a 6 year old son and a 3 year old daughter. While listening to the politicians discussing the idea of repatriation, a thought came to me – what if everyone was sent back to their place of origin? My target audience is the 18 – 25 year old with the idea of a series of books to expand the story lines and develop the characters further. I look forward to hearing from you and I truly hope you enjoy the book!!!
Oh yeah, and i don't have a cover... :(
An American flag covering the whole page but instead of the stars, different symbols from different countries, like the crescent moon and small star from the Russian flag, the wheel from the Indian flag, etc to symbolize that the United States are made up of all countries...
Hm. Interesting, but it seems to me you might be limited to flags which actually have some sort of symbol on them. A lot of flags just have stripes of colours, and no symbols.
That is true... I thought about that actually and it might be necessary for me ti use different symbols that are closely associated with the country, like the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, that sort of thing!
Title: THE KNIGHTMARES
https://www.inkshares.com/books/the-k...
Also: http://www.theknightmares.com
Short Pitch:
9 geek-culture loving, bantering punk kids are pitted against an evil, sexy succubus from another dimension and her demented plans to resurrect her long lost warlord lover. There are ghosts and pirate treasure and alien gods and alchemy and exorcisms and lots of weird stuff too.
***
Long Pitch:
The Knightmares is a spooky comedy filled with (still beating) heart, wit, and a handful of genuine scares; like Joe Dante and John Landis had a brainchild nine months after they invited Don Coscarelli over for a threesome (yeah, I went there).
The story revolves around a group of young punkish, nerdy goth friends, college students with a love for all things comic book and pop-culture geek, drawn into the fight against evil when one of their own, Gene, becomes infected with a vile parasitic seed, set to regrow a long deceased warlord from another world. Together they fight to save their friend, and discover secret truths about themselves and their closest mates. They stumble headfirst (literally) into sexy warlords from another dimension, semi-omniscient alien gods, divine items of untold power, vindictive bloodthirsty lycanthropes and a possessed demonic stuffed toy animal, all while racking up egregious amounts “cool points” and slinging zingers. There’s alchemian blondeness, a novice witch, a holy exorcist, and even a trio of zany ghosts, all fighting for Gene’s survival. Also, Bob’s a freaking quarter-werewolf! Not impressive, you say? Well that’s a whole quarter more werewolf than you!
Set in 1999 Philadelphia, in the age when cellphones had yet to dominate our lives and the internet had yet to become a household utility, The Knightmares is a story driven by its bright relatable characters and twisty plot, through creatures of myth, random pop culture references, and dimensions into the places between spaces.
The Knightmares is the first book in an anthology series aptly called Scales, depicting the struggles between good and evil, and the uneasy balance nature has with both. Each book blends subtly into the next, across genres and multiple tones, with at least five more novels, not including a few sequels, already in various states of development (from almost done to conceptually outlined). Heroes and places, items and villains, cross in various ways from one plot to the next, blending into a world where anything and anyone is possible.
Author Bio:
G.A. Finocchiaro
G.A. is a single 37 year old Creative Director and Designer living in Philadelphia, PA. An oddball by nature, with a love of geek-culture and all things cool, writing as a fanboy might write after being inspired by his heroes to write for the next generation of fanboys to come.

Wings of the Crallow by M. Robert Randolph

Logline:
After MICHAEL CONALL learns that a dark mountain threatens both his existence and a magical island of light, he must dig deep, find his true self, and summon the strength to move mountains or else fall to the emptiness that eats him away.
The Gist:
Wings of the Crallow is an experimental fiction novel. Defies conventions with its unique plot and use of symbolism. This novel mashes genres of fantasy, supernatural, horror, and psychological thriller. A mix of childish wonder and sinister essence makes this book an exciting psychological trip that leaves readers questioning childhood, innocence, adulthood, and the dichotomy of good and evil. Think Michael Ende’s The Neverending Story meets Stephen King’s Carrie with a bit of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.

For the two years since Exercitus first told Amber she’s a witch, Amber has used her authorized talisman to channel her magic. Lately, Amber has been noticing how many more demons are hanging around central Pennsylvania without any apparent cause. A single slip-up against a demon—one where Amber uses dangerous and illegal indie magic instead of her talisman—and Exercitus sticks her on probation. James, who had worked for Exercitus before he was kicked out for use of indie magic, offers to help Amber find the warlock summoning all these demons. But if they’re going to investigate by visiting the warlock bars, she’ll need to use indie magic regularly. Amber must choose either loyalty to the organization and its centuries-old protocol, or playing potential savior by strengthening her personal power.
Convinced Exercitus isn’t doing enough to keep the demon problem under control (and unwilling to let the Sapphire Point team of witches die as a result of Exercitus’ incompetence), Amber walks a dangerous line: She continues to work for the organization while James teaches her indie magic on the side. Amber swiftly starts losing control. Covert missions, sex with the enemy, erasing memories. She still claims she is working toward the greater good, but, if she isn’t careful, Amber is going to play right into the hands of the biggest threat to her and her friends.

On the march, around the campfire, and in the taverns, they tell incredible stories about Tarmun Vykers, the Reaper – how he’s never been cut in battle, how he once defeated hundreds of men by himself, how he exterminated an entire people over an insult. These stories make Vykers seem like a god, but he is a man, an arrogant, ruthless and bloodthirsty man. For all that, he may be the only thing standing between the human race and utter annihilation at the hands of the mad wizard who calls himself the End-of-All-Things. Against this backdrop, smaller, lesser folks struggle to fulfill their own destinies, folks like Aoife, burdened with a secret so dark she is driven to do the unimaginable and seek an alliance with fey powers no mortal has ever encountered.
