Kaz cutting out oomen's eye is so violent for a YA book! I am liking every character in this. I reckon Inej, Jesper and Kaz are my favourites so far, but the other three are great as well. I do enjoy the tension between Nina and Matthias. It creates an interesting complication to their heist! (hide spoiler)]

I've never been obsessed with celebrities or casts or anything before.... but I love the whole cast so much. We have been so blessed by the Saints to have them.

I'd previously seen Freddy's horse show with my little sister, so I was VERY skeptical of him for Kaz but as soon as that trailer and promo photos hit I completely saw it. His opening scene with Jesper where he shakes his head warningly, "No loud noises at the table Jesper.... it scares off the pigeons" and then the cane action. It gets me EVERY TIME. EVERY SINGLE TIME. Freddy is Kaz, he is perfection. My only complaint is that he looks like 30 so it doesn't quite have the same effect as KAz being 17 but honestly, Freddy did such a good job I don't even care that much

They literally went and cast Jesper as Jesper, we stan Kit Young. He is also perfect.
Amita is EXAXCTLY how I pictured Inej in my head she is a freaking Queen, we also stan.

I didn't see Danielle as Nina at first but watching the show I completely fell in love with her as Nina. Nina and Matthais we two of my favorite characters in the show. One of my favorite scenes is when Nina is like
"Are you afraid you might start to like me? That's it isn't? You don't want to like a Grisha. You're scaredthat if you laugh at my jokes or answer my questions you MIGHT start to think that I'm human. Would that be so terrible?"

"What was that?"

Ok yeah I think i have a problem cause that whole thing was completely from memory oops. ANYWAYS that's porbably my favorite scene. And Calahan is perfect for Matthais when Nina pokes him and he just gives that little smile. ITS SO CUTE! My brain just cannot compute and just goes *that man is like a golden retriever in dog form* idk why just, golden retriever vibes lol.

The Shadow and Bone part of the cast is also amazing. I still can't get over the fact that Leigh Bardugo fancasted Ben as the Darkling is 2013 and today, in 2021, here is playing the Darkling and being a #1 fan of his characters. It makes me so happy ngl
Jessie is also a Queen, we love them.
Archie also makes such a great Mal
Daisy and Genya is perfect.

Have you seen the video of Danielle, Jessie, Archie, Amita, and Freddy doing an interview thing and they get "pranked" with bring "the fold into real life" That single video bring me life and so much joy. if you haven't seen it, would definitely recommend.

(view spoiler)[ The casting was so perfect! Even when I saw the trailer I was doubting Freddy's ability to pull off Kaz, but when I saw him in the first episode it was perfect. They are all just perfect. I do think that considering the time the story is set and the life Kaz lives, he probably would have looked older, so I didn't really mind.

I am just soooo excited to see who they cast as Nikolai. He and Kaz are the best characters and I hope they do a good job with Nikolai's character.
Personally, my favorite scene had to be when Alina jumped into the trunk. I mean that was so perfect. Plus... who could imagine having a Kaz vs Darkling scene.
They just recreated the world so well and the magic was done well and the stories worked well together. It was just all awesome!
I saw a video of Leigh meeting the cast and she was breaking out into tears and so excited which I thought was really sweet. I haven't seen the video you mentioned, I'll have to watch it. I am definitely planning to fill the time between now and the next season with rereading both series and watching interviews XD. (hide spoiler)]

I agree all the magic and special effects were so well done. Honestly one of my favorite adaptions, even with all the changes they made. The ONLY 2 things I didn't like were "call me Aleksander" and the collar was disgusting I had to look away whenever Alina was on screen tbh it super freaked me out even though I know it was fake.
Usually I get really picky with adaptions of my favorite series so two things isn't that much and I'm super happy.

I think they would be smart to cast one actor for both Nikolai and Sturmhond and make him look different for each role. That would be so cool, especially if they managed to make him completely different.
Omg, yes, the reveal of the Darklings real name made me so mad! I was like, "NOOOOOOOOOOO! You don't reveal that until the end! ARGHHHHHHH" Lol no, it was a strange choice they made in my opinion. They very rarely called him The Darkling, too, which I didn't like. The antlers were really kind of disgusting!

I am so surprised that they were so successful at adapting the story. Six of Crows is one of my favourites and I was expecting to really hate any adaptions. It was a pleasant surprise when the show turned out to be good!

I honestly can't wait until they show Kaz's backstory. I was really hoping they would do it in the first season but unfortunately, I will have to wait. :( (hide spoiler)]

I love how his character is completely absorbed with hatred and the need for revenge and despite being an exceptionally clever and logical person he is blinded by it. I had internet issues while reading this so I couldn’t leave comments as I read and I was too freaking excited to open my notes app every few minutes lol so I’m going to try and sum my feelings up here
(view spoiler)[In the beginning I didn’t like Kaz and I was like THIS is the most popular character in the series? Like no. But he was terrifying and cruel and I was so curious as to why? And why the heck would Jesper and Inej stick around him when he is like that even to them.
When it was revealed I almost fainted like omg how is he even alive how the heck is his heart still beating it’s like that moment in Iron Man When Pepper gives him that gift that says Proof that Tony Stark has a heart I felt that with Kaz when his backstory was revealed and he was an instant baby then, lol.
Inej made me feel sorry for her in the beginning but I swear she showed so much strength it was like woah she’s got so much depth I would die to be her.
As for the rest of the characters I love them so much and I love their roles and their dynamic and everything they do.
The plot was so well written and the writing style was just moah chef’s kiss and I couldn’t wait to pick the second book like I instantly shut the first and sat and stared at the wall for a few minutes then picked up crooked kingdom and started it right away 😂
This was definitely a favorite, so so so good and so memorable. I will force my kids to read it when they’re old enough. (hide spoiler)]

But he took her prisoner and was going to kill her if the ship hadn't wrecked, so they are even. Part 3 (view spoiler)[I love thay both Nina and Matthias are both complex characters. They are not evil, but they are not incredibly good either. Kaz's backstory is so sad... so Mister Hertzoon is Pekka Rollins? Or Jordie asked something of Pekka? I wanna know more (hide spoiler)]

Part 4 (view spoiler)[Ha! I knew Hertzoon was Rollins... the more I read about Kaz's past, the sadder it gets. I think this was a mistake, Kaz going to see Rollins. I bet Pekka had the same idea as Kaz for getting into the prison. Or is Pekka there as a prisoner? (hide spoiler)]

Part 5 (view spoiler)[Everything is going to hell... Matthias almost gave me a heart attack, I really thought he was going to leave Nina in the cell.
