This kind of weapons used in this series are swords and spears, .here are a bunch of rival families and one king/dictator. Each family can turn into some kind of animal...wolf, boar, lion, bear, giant rat..ect...the main character turns into a wolf i believe. sorry thats not really much to go on and is kinda weird.

I was thinking the Cheysuli series as well, and specifically Track of the White Wolf.
