Hi all. I'm really looking forward to hearing what members think of "Swift Runs the heart". It's set in the time of the Otago goldrush, so will be great to find what fellow kiwis think of my take on that time. "Swift Runs the Heart" can be purchased from most major e-book retailers. I know it's also available as an e-book from the Auckland and Christchurch libraries.
If anyone is unable to get a copy, please message me, and I may be able to get a free copy from the publisher. Generally they are OK about this, in return for an honest comment or review.
Kathleen, it may depend on your type of e-reader. Both Auckland and Christchurch have a copy, availabe as an epub or overdrive file, not as a kindle file. But both show "Swift Runs the Heart" as available at the moment.
Have just purchased my kindle copy through Amazon. All ready for April now!

I began this curled up in a B&B in Timaru this morning. Looking forward to reading more. Always love when a book is set in or near an area I know well. I'm a true blue Tuapeka girl, so I love reading this name in books. Interestingly, Catton called the Tuapeka area Lawrence in her book, but I was pleased to see Mary use Tuapeka, as I'm pretty sure the town wasn't named Lawrence until years later.
I've just finished this book. I found it to be a nice, light historical romance with a hint of mystery. An enjoyable read and change from heavier tomes.One disappointment was once again the editorial issues - small but frequent spelling and grammar errors. There was one glaring error towards the end when Genevieve appeared in the book - looking up from her sewing! It's a shame that these distractions seem to have become the norm in today's publishing world.

However, Catton was right in calling it Lawrence as in the time her book is set it had changed from Tuapeka to Lawrence.

Believe it or not, in the gold mining days, Lawrence's population was larger than Dunedin!
I must get back to reading this. I'm 15% of the way through. I really struggle to motivate myself to read ebooks.

I'm a true ..."Angie, you have a birthday coming up soon so start putting out the feelers for an e-reader. Doesn't matter which kind so long as it's screen is bigger than a phone. You can download the kindle app to most tablets now and the books are much easier to read on a bigger screen. And if you get one that also plays MP3 files then you can listen to audios on it too.
Now, just get writing to those birthday fairies with you wish list :)

I have been thinking of buying a kindle, which will solve both issues. I just feel greedy having so much technology! I'm about to research the best heart rate monitor/GPS watch to get for my running....

I'll have no problem getting around to reading p.d.r's, Tizzie, and Greg's new ebook once I have that little baby in my hands!
I finished Swift Runs the Heart last night. It is a sweet wee read. I loved the settings and Bas is the perfect gentleman. I'm not usually a romance fan, but found this to be a good balance of romance, history and action. Well done Mary. You should be proud of your book.
