The younger sister on her birthday uses the car she gets to go buy something but its raining out really bad and the older sister told her not to go but she lets her and she doesn't come back. . The sister finds out her sister hit a tree and is in a coma.the book is mainly about the big sister and hoping of her sisters recovery and how she deals with it. she visits her all the time and reads to her **spoiler** the girl dies at the end of the book. I remember a part where the older sister is hugging her and she finds out she was dead and she runs to the bathroom cleaning herself .
There is a sequel and it's about how she deals with her sisters death and romance. **Spolier** She ends up with a guy who volunteered as clowns with her younger sister.

Publishers Weekly:
Perfectionist Erin is often infuriated by her easygoing younger sister Amy. But when a near-fatal car accident leaves Amy comatose, the distraught Erin is unable to face the idea of turning off her sister's life-support system and donating her organs to science. (view spoiler)the second volume picks up the thread of the story a year after Amy's death. Though Erin has done her best to return to a normal life, she is plagued by debilitating headaches--the product of unresolved mourning and newly arisen family tensions. A cliche-spouting family therapist and a goofy would-be boyfriend lead Erin through numerous predictable confrontations with her feelings.

I tried my best to edit some of the review out to just focus on the book description. PW's review had several not-so-pleasant things to say about the series.
