Madison (madison219) | 19 comments I'm in grade 7, I read it when I was in grade 3 (I think it was 2010 then....). It's probably book that is meant for grade 3's because the teacher gave us a few books that we had to read.

In a note I wrote to myself in the summer before I went to grade 4, it said: "tell (then I wrote my friends name) to look in the book the Royal forest for a golden retriever bookmark."

Every time I try to find the book, all I find are non- fiction books about a forest called the royal forest (the boom I'm trying to find was fiction). Although I am quite sure that that was the title of the book ( I don't see how it couldn't have been anything different unless I got confused with another book when I wrote the note or I just wrote down the wrong title) the title really could be anything.

I remember the story was about a girl either with her brother in a forest or about her searching for him. I'm sorry, but I can't think of anything else that May have been in it..... There may have been something the girl found ( for some reason I remember a dump, but I don't think that's was it actually was, but I think she found some sort of thing like that.).

The cover (unless I'm thinking of some other book) may have had the girl and her brother on it. If I remember correctly they had reddish brownish hair (again, not anything I say is certain, they may not have even been on the cover) and they were peering around behind trees at an opening (their backs were facing you but they were either looking at whatever was behind the opening or at each other) I think the opening was of the place they discovered (from what i thought, the dump, but was probably someplace else.)

I can't provide much more information on it. I never actually got to finish it (that's why my bookmark was still in the book, and the reason I asked my friend to check the book for the bookmark, and the reason I even remember reading it, after coming across it probably 2 years ago. So searching the internet for it is out of the question, so I decided to actually ask people personally if they know it.

Any suggestions on what the book may have been are helpful, and thank you for anyone bothering to read this long boring thing about a book they probably have never (and probably never will) heard of. Thank you! :)

Michele | 2488 comments A couple of questions that might jog your memory: Did the story have any elements of magic or fantasy, or was it just real-world fiction? Do you happen to recall whether the brother or the sister was the older sibling? How far into the book did you get -- that is, where did the search in the forest happen, near the beginning, middle, end? Do you remember if the search in the forest was a major part of the book, or just one small part? When you read it, was it a paperback or a hardcover? Do you have any idea if it was a new book at the time you read it, or had it been out for a while?

And of course: Is your third grade teacher still around? Maybe you could ask her. Teachers tend to recommend books that they like to their students, so there's a good chance she would remember :)

I'm pretty sure the story was kind of a fantasy because the forest I think was kind of enchanted I guess(I even tried searching google for the enchanted forest but nothing came up).
I'm pretty sure the sister was older. I know the girl wasn't any older then grade 8 if I were to guess, so probably between grade 3-8. The brother may have been between kindergarten and grade 2.
I'm not sure how far I got in the book but if I were to guess it was between a quarter through- halfway through.
I don't think that the characters ever got out of the forest at least up to the point that I read it.
I know the book was a paperback but I'm not sure if it was new or not ( it was probably not that new though because in the classroom there was never any new books. Mostly just ones a few years old or older).
And yes, my third grade teacher is still around, she still works at the school and my sister still goes there so I could ask her but I'm not sure if she'll remember because the only reason I read it was because we got like 4 books put in these little boxes that each person had. You got those books based off your reading level so I'm pretty sure my teacher never read it. But it's a possibility! Thank you for the questions! I forgot to add a lot to the first comment! :)

Michele | 2488 comments Possibly The Eye Of The Forest, or The Forest King (there isn't a girl but there are several siblings)?

Paul | 5 comments The Royal Woods perhaps? The cover seems to match what you describe, though the contents seem to differ based on the synopsis.

I think that's the book! I probably just got some of the information wrong because I read it like 4 years ago. But I think that's the book!!! I feel so stupid to have never thought to try looking up the royal WOODS in replace of the word forest! I can't believe someone actually found it though, I'm so excited! Thank you so much!!!!!! :) :) :D
