Briana Gaitan (brianagaitan) | 6 comments I have a book I have been writing off and on for 5 years. I loved it when I wrote it, but it isn't near and dear to me anymore. I feel bad letting a half finished book sit there. Any ideas to motivate me to finish, or should I give up on a project I am just not passionate about anymore?

Jessica (jessicalcozzi) I suggest putting it aside and coming back to it later. When I lose interest in what I'm writing, I set it aside and start something new. But then a few months (or even years) later, I'll pick up the old story and reread it and totally get into it all over again.

K.P. Merriweather (kp_merriweather) | 47 comments Put it aside for a while and come back to it when you have nothing better to do. Some of my books took years to write. Chain Reaction (The Agency, #1) by K.P. Merriweather and its sequels took me 10 years to write (i wrote the whole set at once and just now getting to editing/publishing them all) whereas The Most Unlikely Beginnings by K.P. Merriweather took 7 years to write, 2 years to edit (i moved a lot). Don't feel bad that your story is taking a while. It's like cooking a good soup. The longer it sits, the better the spices release their awesomeness and your soup be banging. :D
