I have a book I have been writing off and on for 5 years. I loved it when I wrote it, but it isn't near and dear to me anymore. I feel bad letting a half finished book sit there. Any ideas to motivate me to finish, or should I give up on a project I am just not passionate about anymore?

I suggest putting it aside and coming back to it later. When I lose interest in what I'm writing, I set it aside and start something new. But then a few months (or even years) later, I'll pick up the old story and reread it and totally get into it all over again.
Put it aside for a while and come back to it when you have nothing better to do. Some of my books took years to write.
and its sequels took me 10 years to write (i wrote the whole set at once and just now getting to editing/publishing them all) whereas
took 7 years to write, 2 years to edit (i moved a lot). Don't feel bad that your story is taking a while. It's like cooking a good soup. The longer it sits, the better the spices release their awesomeness and your soup be banging. :D
