FA 2015 20.9 Three Names

In honor of Louisa May Alcott's birthday on November 29, 1832, read a book by an author who is known by three names in Goodreads. Initials, name suffixes (Jr, Sr) and name prefixes (la, de, l' etc.) will not be counted as separate names, but hyphenated names will count as two names.

Wow -- I didn't know that Cervantes had a second last name! I guess it shouldn't be unexpected since he was Spanish. Thanks for helping me learn something new everyday. :-)

Question - it says 'three names', not 'at least three names'. So four names don't qualify, right?
That would be unfortunate, as the author I am considering really has three names, but for whatever obscure reason goodreads has him listed with four names...

Charles Thomas Osborne (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles... shows that he did the novelizations for several of Agatha Christie's plays)

But he is listed in goodreads as Charles Humfrey Caufield Osborne with that accomplishment.
Those extra middle names are nowhere else in the web to be found - it looks like Goodreads made them up?

I'm going to work over in the Librarian's group on this author. There are a couple of issues. He only ever published as Charles Osborne, not Charles Thomas Osborne. If that change is allowed the 3-name would not apply in any case. However, in your defense, adaptations are usually separated from the main work. If the ruling over there goes that way, we will separate out all of Osborne's novelizations of the Christie plays so that his name appears first in the GR listings. At that time, I think the page counts will be in your favor. I don't think this will be decided this weekend, nor if decided to separate out the works, accomplished this week. But we have plenty of time left in the challenge. I'll keep you informed.

Hi Will:
Once they get that question about this author all sorted out --- I'm fine if the author for this task has more than three names. They should have at least three names that qualify per the task outlined requirements in order for the book to qualify.

I didn't even think about authors with four names when writing up my task rules. But I would be okay with authors with four (or more) more names too.

Please can you give a ruling on Emily St. John Mandel? I believe the "St John" part is one name (pronounced Sin-jun) as explained on Wiki. Or would it count as two words, so making her ineligible for this task?

This task needs AT LEAST three names. Sorry, I wasn't clear on that when writing the task. Four names are also okay.
