Edited to add: Good lord there are a lot of those books.

Just William is amazing, however. Well worth a read! Martin Jarvis did a stage show where he read from a slightly edited version of Richmal Crompton's originals. Very, very funny.

Have you tried checking Tony Robinson's author page? Narrators aren't always credited on GR, but he might be.

The boys discuss a lot of urban legends - memorably:
- a case where a wrestler or boxer was counted out whilst upside down because he'd gone into rigour mortis
- a boat carrying rice from india that got filled with water in a storm and subsequently exploded when the wet rice expanded.
The protaganist's mother has a friend called Hermione. They go on an anti-vivisection protest and sing some chant along the lines of "We don't want no vivisection, [i forgot this line], if a rat gave you an injection, you wouldn't think it was funny"
Probably came out in around 1995. I remember nothing about the cover. I do remember, however, having an audio book version which was narrated by Tony Robinson.
