15+ years ago, my mother used to own a book which I read and enjoyed. At some point we got rid of the book and it's driving me crazy trying to figure out what the book was called. I cannot for the life of me recall the authors name either.
Best I can recall it was about a retired female tap (jazz?) dancer in New York and the company she danced for is doing a revival or a reunion and one (or more?) of the members of the cast start getting murdered.
The cover we had was a non glossy bronze/taupe/brown-ish color and I want to say it had a pair of dance shoes and possibly a skull on the cover.

I'm 90% certain it's part of a series.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
