I'm starting Wuthering Heights - it's one of those I can't believe I've never read.

Came home from the library with Cat's Eye-Atwood, Lady Chatterley's Lover-DH Lawrence, Satanic Verses-Rushdie, & Life of Pi-Mann. So those are the ones I'm going to be starting. Any feedback on any of these?

Life of Pi will be the easiest read, followed by Cat's Eye. I would recommend not doing Lady Chatterley and Satanic Verses in a row - break them up with one of the other two, probably Life of Pi!

I ended up starting with Satanic Verses because I like a challenge :) So far, I'm actually finding it entertaining, if not a trifle weird, LOL. So I guess Cat's Eye or Pi will be next, then Lady Chatterley & then the other one I don't do next, but I've looked forward to Chatterley since I was a teenager & was told how very erotic it was for the time, & wasn't ALLOWED to read it! LOL!!!! That's why Lolita's on my to read list too. Was disappointed that the slightly closer branch didn't have most of the ones I'd written down, these were back ups.

Lisa, did you get my PM about your being able to check the catalog at your branch before leaving home? At my library, I can put a hold on a book. Our system isn't one that I could ask for a book to be transferred, but I would think that option would available to you.

Hope you enjoy Lolita - Nabokov is a favorite author of mine. The way he plays with words is wonderful! If Lolita leaves you hungry for more, try Ada. It's more freewheeling/all over the place than Lolita and the language is just as fun!

Started reading Junky by William S Burroughs this morning during another long train journey. Read about thirty pages so far but i think I might have to revisit them as my reading pleasure was being interupted by a small child in the seat behind me. So far my knowledge of the book goes like this...

Compared with today's explicit descriptions of erotic episodes, "Lady Chatterley's Lover" is very tame, trust me! But for its time it was quite daring, particularly because of the cross-class relationship. Can't tell you more about that without spoiling the book for you, but suffice it to say it's a fabulous read. I hope you have fun reading it.

It's actually one of my favorite books. It took me two tries, I think, when I was in the 6th grade, before I finally finished it. Well-worth reading, in my opinion.

I've just started by David Peace.Nineteen Seventy-Seven. I wish this book wasn't in the middle of a series. It might have helped to have more of a history of the characters. That said, its an interesting book and I probably will read the other book of the series.
