Just started Jane Austen's Emma. I've read P&P and S&S--the former by far my favorite of the two. So far I am really loving Emma, too.
Just started Unless A Novel which is this month's pick for my book club, and I was pleasantly surprised it is on the list. Always a bonus.
Beloved by Toni Morrison. I am not looking forward to it since I tried to read it over 15 years ago and had to put it down (of course I was only in elementary school then).
Beloved is not a book I would recommend for elementary school students. It's a hard story, but very well done.
A room of One's Own and Comfort of Strangers.
Having just finished At The Mountains Of Madness, I am reading the rest of the HP Lovecraft anthology that I got out of the library (not on the list but worth a read!) I am about halfway through The Case of Charles Dexter Ward at the moment and I am liking it much more than Mountains so far.
I'm reading The Book of Daniel by E. L. Doctorow at home and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Philip K. Dick during my commute.
Melissa wrote: "Just started Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte."Melissa, This is an unforgettable book! I know you're going to love it. It's on my all-time favorite books list. I can never forget Kathy and Heathcliff.
Stephanie, is that the book the movie is based on? I just saw the film last night and really enjoyed it.
Yes its the one...I have been waiting to read it for a while...the first two times I ordered it fro amazon the ran out...lol
David wrote: "Three musketeers"I loved that book. I keep meaning to read one of the sequels...
I just started The Reader by Bernhard Schlink.
North and South by Gaskell, just about to go on a 9 hour flight to the UK, my back up book is Artemis Fowl not on the list but on the BBC list.
I'm off classics for the moment and having a mystery binge. So, I'm reading Patricia Cornwell..."Black Notice," and I'm starting, "Scarpetta."
hhhmm...i'm not so sure...which one i pick first...i've already bought "Ascolta La Mia Voce" by Susana Tamaro, "Through A Glass, Darkly" By Josteein Gaarder, "Breaking Down" by Stephanie Meyer, and "A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaleed Hosseini.
Maybe i should start with the thinnest book... :)
started Perfume by Patrick Suskind. I've seen the movie, which was pretty good so hopefully the book with be just as good, if not better.
Currently working on:Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Beloved by Toni Morrison
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
and finishing up: Where Angels Fear to Tread by E.M. Forster
