Karena (karenafagan) I'm doing a Classic Author Challenge and I need the letter I so picking up Never Let Me Go. Also contemplating reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, but I'm not afraid to admit the page numbers intimidate me a bit. I already did Anna Karenina with Atlas Shrugged (which isn't a 1001, but still a monster read) back to back. We'll see how quickly I get through Ishiguro.

Tara, I finished it as well and really liked it also! There's a film version that is not much like the novel but still quite fun. It captures the mood and setting very well, but it deviates in plot and characters. A musical, no less!

Surprisingly easy to get into ....with all the strange vocabulary and concepts in this classic si-fi page-turner.

Dee (deinonychus) | 243 comments Ovid's Metamorphoses. I've read bits of this before, and am familiar with many of the stories, but have never read the whole thing. Did the first two books this afternoon.

message 6813: by Lisa (new)

Lisa James (sthwnd) | 352 comments Lolita Been meaning to read this one. Checked one out of the library, but it wasn't what I wanted, so I finally found this edition, without the extraneous stuff at the front, so I could mostly dive right into the story....REALLY interesting so far, & I'm only on page 29. I can see this is probably going to be a fast one or me....

Charity (charityross) This thread is acting wonky and is now shut down. Please feel free to keep the posting going on this shiny, new thread (of the same name). :)
