I also loved that book - whoever I lent my copy loved it so much I didn't get it back. Time to invest in a replacement

I'm with you there, Andrea!

Keep with it, it does get better! I was disappointed with the beginning when I got to the end. It could have been a 5 star rating for me if it weren't for the excessive sex.

This is definitely NOT a list book."
Yes,but that's a book I loved to read until now.
But,tell me,maybe I'm wrong...Only the list books are to be put here,or not?If it'll be,I make my pardon..

Luis, the thread is "which LIST book did you start"

So far, its really slow. I don't want to abandon it just yet, but I'm bored.

I just finished this one. I found it a bit hard to get into also. I think it helped me when I got the hang of being able to sound the dialogue out in my mind. Kind of the way when you read a script it might seem flat, and you have to add the voices. Even then, though, it remains a bit slow. I think for me due to the fact that it centers on the leisure hours of these people. And watching other people 'party' isn't really that interesting, when you're not 'partying' yourself. I felt overall it was worthwhile for me in the end, Hemingingway definitely has a point to make, but I can understand the feeling.

Super awesome so far. Different style of writing. Enjoying the suspense he builds."
I'm starting this one now too!

There are no plays on the 1001 list. If you are unsure what's on the list of books that this group reads, check out the group's bookshelf or look here.

My experience with Cuckoo's Nest was, saw the movie, did assistant director plus sound/lights design for a community theatre company on the stage version, then finally read the book. The stage version is much truer to the book than the movie is, and it put a little space in my mind between the movie actors and the written characters. Much less impressed with the movie version of the 3, but agree - Louise Fletcher was fabulous.
