Which LIST book did you just start?
Wow! Last 100 total or last 100 from the 2006 list? Either way, it's impressive! :) Deanne wrote: "Bucket
I'm down to the last 100, have to get round to some I've put off and tracking down others."
Deanne wrote: "Started Infinite Jest by Wallace, it's been on the shelf for a while and I thought I'd give it a go."IJ is one of my all-time favorite novels. I have read it twice and it has so much to offer everytime I read it.
I've just begun Wise Blood. This is my first introduction to this author so I'm anxious to see how I like her and the book.
I'm re-starting David Copperfield. I started it about 4 months ago but lost momentum about 15% in. Hope round 2 goes better.
I`ve just started Ballard`s Crash and it kind of creeps me out. I hope I`ll get used to his writing and shocking descriptions. I feel it might be too much for me.
Ian wrote: "Have just begun Fanny Hill: Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure.Started reading it on our Wedding Anniversary - not sure what that says!" LOLOL!!! it says your husband is going to have a good night! Seriously though, I read this one & adored it! It was truly cute as all get out!

I started The Tin Drum, by Gunter Grass late last night. That's going well. Can't go wrong with a book that's designed to be a satire & starts out with a guy in an insane asylum, LOL. I also just got done working my through the foreward to Madame Bovary, & now I can get into the real book.
Charity wrote: "Tara wrote: "About to re-start 'The Idiot' by Dostoevsky. Briefly began it last summer but got distracted and never finished. Looking forward to it though."I read The Idiot (Pevear/Volokhonsky ..."
Thanks! I'm about 15% of the way in now, and totally hooked. :)

Too funny!! :D
Just started "Life of Pi". Already found a quote I really liked: "The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity-it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can."
Started reading Catch-22 for book club. About time I read it, always put it off. Having just read the first few lines, think I will be nicely surprised...
Just started The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte. I was not a fan of Wuthering Heights or Jane Eyre by her siblings so hopefully I will enjoy this novel.
Glynis wrote: "Started reading Catch-22 for book club. About time I read it, always put it off. Having just read the first few lines, think I will be nicely surprised..."Me too, it has been sitting in my to read pile for a while but I've finally relented and commenced reading.
Just starting The Godfather by Mario Puzo. I love love love the film, which is probably why it's taken me so long to get around to reading it - hope I can separate myself from picturing Pacino and Brando too much!
Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan SwiftBeen putting this one off most of my life! Guess it is time to dive in!
The Berlin Stories: The Last of Mr. Norris and Goodbye to Berlin - Christopher IsherwoodI've been looking for a good used copy of this one for ages. Finally checked it out of the library!
50 pages into "The Elegance of the Hedgehog"...I'm not really feeling it yet. :/ But, I won't give up on it. I hope that the Group Discussion helps with more insight.
Just started Beloved by Toni Morrison. This is a book that I have been meaning to read for a while and am looking forward to it.
Starting Captain Corelli's Mandolin. So far I like the writing style, but I am literally two chapters in.
Mikela wrote: "Currently reading Candide and enjoying it considerably more than I had anticipated."I've been on a comedy / satire kick myself. I've recently read The Diary of a Nobody by Grossman, A Modest Proposal by Swift, and The Nose by Gogol. So, Candide seemed like the logical next up for me. Did you end up enjoying it to the end?
Reading Infinite Jest, nearly 900 pages in and it's grown on me, beginning to enjoy the hour I put by to read about Hal, Mario, Orin, Moms etc.I've also started Independent people, not so heavy when travelling to work, plus it has to be back at the library on june 6th. Have got the diamond jubilee off so I'm hoping to finish it before then.

You are an inspiration for me. For some reason, the way you worded your post made me want to go back and continue IJ (I loved what I read but was overwhelmed by the sheer size of it all).
I also just bought Independent People which I've wanted to read for years. I look forward to reading what you think of it.
Dbolden wrote: "Just started the Wasp Factory. My colleague just looked at in horror. I'm scared."I hope you enjoyed Wasp Factory-I liked it very much. Even though it did deal with horrors.

Currently reading a non list book The invention of murder where some 1001 books have made an appearance. Vanity Fair, Becky goes to a team of lawyers Burke, Thurtell and Hayes, a trio of murderers.
Mary Barton by Gaskell was written 10 years after the murder of Thomas Ashton, just full of I remember reading that in such and such.
