Thanks for the welcome! I'm loving goodreads so far. It's exciting to be in a place to talk about books!
I never made it to Point Horror--in fact, I didn't encounter Stine again until I saw "Red Rain" for adults in the bookstore a few years ago. Now that I'm an adult, it's proudly on my shelf.

And yes, The Passage is in my top 5 books of all time. Just a beautiful, haunting work. I love it so much I even list it on my bio. Are you looking forward to the City of Mirrors next year?

I remember a few of the Goosebumps books but I really got hooked into the Point Horrors. I've been re-buying them and slowly re-reading them to see all the horror cliches and channel the nostalgia. I really must get around to reading Red Rain.

A few years ago, I saw an RL Stine collection in my cousins' basement and picked it up for the nostalgia. They were quick reads when I was in grade school, so I blew through them as an adult. It was easy to see why they were so magical when I was younger. He really accomplished something special, and his success is well earned.
Hey, my name is Corey and I'm a very big Stephen King fan. From what I've read of his artwork anyways. I essentially joined to expand my library options but, as I'm exploring this site more and more, I'm realizing that I may be sticking around on it to maintain interesting discussions and different opinions on whatever I might stumble upon and read.
Hello everyone,I'm new here. I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm trying to get used to the forums and I've been lurking for a bit. I'd like to get more active and involved with conversations and hopefully make some new friends.
A little about myself. I used to be an avid reader in high school and my late teen years but that has been over 6 years ago. I think I've finished only a few books since then. It's always been my dream to write novels and other sorts of fiction but life got in the way. I've also spent entirely too much time playing video games and partying. I think I am finally at a point in my life where I want to "grow up" as painful as that is for me to admit. I want to do more with my life.
So here I am starting fresh. I feel like I have done myself a great disservice by depriving my mind of books and writing. I feel like my mind has actually went downhill slightly. My reading speed is slower but I've never been an incredibly fast reader. My spelling seems affected by auto-correct too. That bothers me.
I seem to go through phase after phase of wanting to do this or do that and nothing has really stuck. I guess I have commitment issues and a lack of patience but I seriously want to commit to writing and start reading again. I am trying to write everyday, even if it's just for a minute. I am working on a zombie novel to get into the swing of things. Sitting at 8000 words at the moment. I've been reading some other zombie authors on Kindle as well. Mark Tufo's Zombie Fallout series is fantastic and I can't help but feel like it puts my writing to shame. I am discouraged easily but I am trying to stay positive and motivated in order to hone my craft.
Thanks for reading. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here.

Howdy folks. I'm new here. I enjoy Brian Keene, Stephen King, Ronald Malfi, Bentley Little, Dean Koontz, John Saul, William Meikle, Tim Curran, Alan Ryker, Greg Gifune and Anthony Izzo among others. I enjoy the novels and novellas being released by indy publisher Dark Fuse and dabble in heavy metal and horror films as well. I hope to converse a little in my spare time and hope you will have me :)
Hello, everyone! I'm new here (well, I joined a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't really had the time to be on Goodreads, let alone write a proper introduction). My name is Bure and I'm an aspiring horror writer from Sweden. Since I've never really had anyone to share this interest with, (I have friends who like Stephen King, but that's about it when it comes to horror), I really look forward to getting to discuss works of this wonderful, often underappreciated genre with likeminded people!
Hi , I'm Joe. My experience of horror is slightly limited in that I've only really read a handful of authors.
My first introductions to horror were 'Dracula' and 'Frankenstein'; being classics they were easier to get past my parents than King or Herbert.
Then I stalled until after university when I was able to read further and pick up those books that my parents didn't want me to read. More recently I've been reading Joe Hill and Graham Masterton, but I'm hoping to find other authors that I will want to hide from my kids.
Welcome aboard Bure and Joe. I'm new this week and...so far...pretty darn cool place to hang around.

Hello and welcome, Joe! You will SURELY find some new to you authors here. :)
Hello my name is Ivan and I just joined the group. I am a big fan of horror books and movies. My journey into horror books started with Stephen King and then I moved to Peter Straub, Clive Barker and H.P. Lovecraft. The works that most imprested me by those authors are "Four past midnight" (King), "The throat" (Straub), "Books of Blood" of Clive Barker and most notably- Lovecraft's "The shadow over Innsmouth". The latter is the scariest thing I have red so far. When it comes to movies my favorites are "The thing", "Halloween", "In the mouth of Madness" from John Carpenter, Wes Craven's "A nightmare on Elm street" , "Hellraiser" from Clive Barker, "Dead Silence" "Insidious", "Rec", "Phantasm", "Suspiria" and many others.
Hi, Guys! It's been awhile. I've been pretty absent lately because I went back to school (which turned out to be a mistake) and my son Keenan was born (which was not a mistake). Never thought being a parent would cut back on my reading so much. lol
Hi everyone,I've just joined this group as it's been recommended to me.
I'm a horror/paranormal author myself, but I'm always looking for new titles to read. This looks like the perfect place to get horror recommendations. Good to see you all here. Looking forward to learning more.
My name is Albert and I wanted to share with you the scariest book I've ever read and written: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...The Void

I think I started off with Goosebumps books too. Can't wait to see what the film will be like. Did you gravitate on to Point Horror too? That sucks about the collection though.
