I've been a member of this group for several years now, but have been away for the last three years--have MS and had to go to re-hab house to learn to walk, talk and work my fingers again. Getting better and glad to be back!

Hi Kathryn. And thanks for the generous offer!
Hello to all readers of scary books,I have been an avid watcher and a reader of this genre for some time now, and, I would like to sink my teeth into something more contemporary... so looking forward for your delightful insights!

Welcome to HA, Veer--I think you'll find everything (and more) that you're looking for in these threads! :)

Welcome!
Hi all. I'm Patrick and I live in Cork, Ireland. I'm a big fan of the horror genre across all media, be it books, TV or Film. I'm more of a fan of stories with a creepy atmosphere and suspense to them than all out gore and am always on the lookout for interesting takes on the genre (that avoid the usual tropes and cliches associated with horror). As you know it can be hard to find a good horror story as the selection in bookshops tends to be quite limited. Am looking forward to browsing through peoples' recommendations and finding a few gems that I wouldn't have otherwise found.
Welcome Julia and Patrick!
@ Patrick, THE ELEMENTALS, by Michael McDowell might be one you'll enjoy!

Thanks guys and thanks for the recommend @Kimberley. Sounds right up my alley. Reading Floating Dragon by Peter Straub at the moment but will definitely add it to my list!
Hi all, I've started to submerge myself into books rather than video games and television as a way to stimulate my mind and hone my imagination. I've always had a fascination with the horror/thriller genre, fantasy/sci-fi and adventure, unique concepts and suspenseful plots. I read as a kid and I remember enjoying it. I look forward to finding some cool books to read, classic to contemporary. I've just finished Edward Lees "city Infernal" and have just moved on to S.A Hunts Malus Domestica. I'll have a browse in the threads here and see if I can find my next adventure.
Welcome, Logan! I don't think that you will have any trouble finding your next read...or next hundred reads for that matter. This is a well read and versed group with recommendations galore.

Hello, I'm Rachelle. Horror is by far my favorite genre. I have been reading horror novels since about age 8 when I started with kiddie horror books like Goosebumps. ;) I read my first Stephen King at age 14 and have loved horror ever since. I'm always looking for more scary and disturbing reads to top the last. My favorite to date is Little Girls by Ronald Malfi. I'd also like to add that many of my dreams would make a great horror novel if I could just organize my thoughts well enough ;)horror
Hi everyone!
I'm a writer who is enjoying pulp novels from the 70's and 80's. I particularly enjoy J-Horror and I welcome recommendations in that genre (particularly obscure and lesser known titles).

Hey everyone,I just joined. I'm looking for new suggestions for horror novels. I've found it difficult to keep up with new authors. Recently I started listening to Stephen King books on audible. I highly recommend It.

Hello fellow fans of fright! Okay it was corny but I stand by it. I am a full time student (nearly finished actually) and horror fan. I enjoy Horror and Strange fiction above all others, and horror films, even games, are among my favorite things. I am a history major, and have done a few research projects having to do with superstition, religion, and a few things that go bump in the night. I feel like being fun-scared is a universal, so as far as I am concerned, we are all equals here!
