Hi everyone. My name is Mikhail. I'm an American living in London (for the last 18 years). Horror is my favourite genre (from novels to films, games and plays). As way of introduction, I will post my list of top 5 favourite horror-related things across all my areas of interest:
1. Dracula by Bram Stoker (novel)
2. Shadow Out of Time by H.P. Lovecraft (short story)
3. Zig Zag by José Carlos Samoza (novel)
4. A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night (film)
5. Werewolf (ancient campfire game)
Of all of those, it's possible the Group is not familiar with numbers 4 and 5.
Zig Zag is a sleeper hit (meaning that it's still relatively unknown and hasn't quite hit cult status). It throws off its serial-killer-police-procedural garb quite quickly once the reader realises the plot centres around quantum physics and twisted psychology. Worth a look for horror fans - especially as it's come out of Spain (which gives it a fresh perspective).
A Girl Walks Home Along At Night is already a cult classic. It's a black-and-white noir-ish Iranian vampire movie. Filmed in 2014 (I saw it subtitled last year: it's in Farsi). It's as if Jim Jarmunsch and Andrei Tarkovsky made a vampire flick. The fact that is was ALLOWED to be made in Iran by the Iranian authorities though it has quite a liberal bent is amazing. Run at all possible speed to see this movie!
Hope that's enough of an introduction to give y'all a sense of what interests me. Very excited to join the Group! I'm a long-time Goodreads (app) user but only recently found the Group area. This is the second Group I've joined today and can't wait to chat with you guys about Horror. Thanks for having me.

Hi Mikhail!
I've heard of A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, but honestly I was kinda expecting it to be nothing but a low-budget, thinly-veiled, didactic morality play. If it's really good horror, I'll try to check it out.
Hi everyone! I've just signed up to goodreads, as I now have a little more time in my life to read a good book! I love a horror film, but have not read as many books in the genre as I would have liked.
I love zombie apocalypse, serial/slasher but less so supernatural, however, I am willing to give all sub-genres a read!
Any recommendations will be greatly received!
Thanks,
Melanie

I'm a high school Special Education Teacher and I also serve in the National Guard. I love all things horror related. My wife thinks there's probably something wrong with me and she may be right. Not many people share the same interests/hobbies as me. Anyways, I live in central Arkansas. I read as much as I can and buy waaay too many cheap books on eBay and at the local Goodwill. My TBR stack keeps growing. At least reading is a cheap addiction! I'm glad to be part of this group where I can hopefully meet/engage with others that share some of the same interests as me.
@Mitch: welcome and thank you for your post. You helped me figure out what "TBR" stood for! *hugs from London*
Char wrote: "Hello and welcome to HA, Mitch! Prepare for your TBR to explode!"I think I'd like my TBR to explode. Then it wouldn't be sitting there mocking me anymore. ^_-
Hello everyone! My name is Erik Henry Vick and I write dark fantasy and horror (and sometimes dark science fiction). I am disabled and, as a result, read a lot (and I mean a lot!). I'm can usually be found reading or writing when left to my own devices.
I am looking for recommendations for new horror writers (or dark fantasy). Or anyone good from any genre, really -- I'm easy that way. I've read widely, but can only read on kindles these days which has really put a crimp in my 'run down to the bookstore and find a new author' style.
At any rate, I'm looking forward to a bunch of good discussion!
I don't remember if I posted here, so hi! Mike MacDee, virtually unknown former horror author with about twenty stories filed as creepypasta on the 'net (The Darrow Curse, Whispers, Carbon River, The Portrait of Noelle Dumont, among others). I mostly write adventure now, and usually if I write horror it tends to be comedy.I mostly read scary story anthologies, and I've been trying to remember the title of an anthology that came out several years ago, compiled by a known horror author, so I can tell people to avoid it. 300+ pages of the most pretentious garbage I ever read.
Be prepared to do some book obsessing, I'm actually on Amazon trying to get my cart through, welcome!
hellothis is Raam,
i am trying to get my book some neutral judges who can give their honest opinion about how my book is like - good, still raw - awesome or anything else...

i have no clear ideas nor any permission.

thanks
Hi!I love to watch horror movies and read horror books. It is probably like that because they really take me away from the everyday life. I can finally forget my own small probelms. Also I like rock/metal music. I would like to get to know more people who are like me.

Hello Raam! You may post in the Author/Publisher Promo area and/or in the Indie/Small Press Corner. Best of luck to you.

Hi Melanie
Would Viking Horror Mystery interest you? My new series is now available on Amazon - the first book is called Draugr. There's a free preview on the Kindle version page. I hope you'll give it a whirl.

Greetings everyone. I'm new to the site, came looking for some suggestions on some really scary books.

Hi Meghan! I'm a Colorado girl too!
Hello fellow HA members! I've been a member of this group for some time now and I'm looking for new GR friends to enhance my newsfeed. I'm after a more relevant feed to improve my never ending book hunt. I'm currently getting far too much YA which I am not a fan of and would love to see more horror/ghosty/gore style reads popping up! Check out my shelves/profile by all means and friend me if you think we have common interests! Looking forward to some new and exciting stuff! Happy reading folks! 👍😁📚
