Hi Everyone! I'm Iza & just joined the group! =) I'm 24 y/o & from Leiden, The Netherlands.I have a lot of favorite books (currently 22 on ma favorites-shelf), and I can't choose between them, so if you want to know check the shelf on my profile ;-)
I've been into horror-books since I was a kid, but haven't found a real scary one, so I thought this would be a good place to be =D
(Stephen King is NOT scary, sorry if I'm stepping on some toes here...)
Apart from reading, I love music (it's also VERY good in combination with reading!), hiking/Wandering/traveling, Scouting and art (especially photography) an teaching. In everything mentioned here (except in scouting and teaching) I also tend toward dark stuff ;-)
read on!x
Oops! I suppose I should have introduced myself properly when I joined HA earlier today. I read across most genres, but I have a special little corner in my heart for horror fiction. I love the short stories of the late 1800's and the early 1900's. People like F. Marion Crawford, W.W. Jacobs, M.R. James, William Hope Hodgson, E.F. Benson, etc. But I'm also keen on some of the later stuff. I think the sixties, seventies & eighties saw the publication of some excellent horror merchants -- Ira Levin, Robert Marasco, Michael McDowell, Robert McCammon, James Herbert, and so many more ... And I'm a bit of a Ripperologist. Looking forward to interacting on HA.
Welcome Gerhard! Those are some of my personal favorites you listed--and anything with Jack the Ripper--fact and fiction is a MUST!

Hey guys, I joined this group a while back, kinda lurked for a bit then took a break from goodreads while I did boring stuff like be busy at work :( But I just wanted to say hi and am gonna try and join in on next months reads cos they both look great!
Hi there everyone! My name is Lauren and I am a huge horror fan! Stephen King is my main man, love everything he has ever written haha I can't wait to get fully engaged in this group! Right now I am really into reading novels in the possession/exorcism genre.
Hello and welcome to HA, Lauren!Check out our Promo Read right now: Exorcist Falls. There may be some free copies left!
(Scroll down our main page to the Promotional Group Reads area, you'll find the thread there.)
Hi,I write ya/na post-apocalyptic novels/novellas as GP Moss. Grew up on James Herbert (his books, not him).
Hello all,My name is Colton. I teach high school English (including an elective on horror lit). I'm a long time fan of horror fiction and film. I've recently started writing horror fiction myself. I'm really excited to join in the group reads. I picked up House of Leaves awhile back and haven't gotten around to starting it.
welcome Colton!oh, how great they have a class like that! I wish I had that when I was in school. I've always been jelous of the way american kids get English: lot's of reading and discussing and writing!
All we in The Netherlands ever got at "Nederlands" was grammer rules/boring information about writers that were supposed to be great (but never actually read anything that they ever wrote) and dry sentencw buildong material!
How is the class going? I'm curious =)
I WISH I had a horror lit lass in High School! The closest I got was reading Frankenstein in AP ENG.

Welcome Colton! What a coincidence--one of our May group reads is HOUSE OF LEAVES. I hope you join in. :)

It's going pretty well. Definitely a lot more excitement for it than my general English classes. Still a lot of whining about reading. I had a kid look at Carrie (which is all of 250 pages) and go, "and you actually expect me to read all of this?" So that's always a little disheartening. But overall, it's going really well. So far this year we've read/watched: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Nosferatu, "The Shunned House" (Lovecraft), Psycho, "20th Century Ghost" (Joe Hill), and Frankenstein.
Thanks for the welcomes everyone. Can't wait to dive into House of Leaves with you all. Starting it later today.
Hello! I just discovered Goodreads a few weeks ago and am hooked! Looking forward to meeting like-minded scary/horror book fans. It's not too late to join the May reading, is it? Thanks!
Welcome Jeanine! It's never to late to join in the monthly group read. We have members that start anytime throughout the month. Just use "spoiler tags" and a percentage read before leaving detailed comments. :)

Sounds like a great class! Have fun with it =)
Hello everyone,My name is Carly. I grew up watching and reading the horror genre. I love doing special effects makeup in my free time, in addition to reading obviously. I'm looking forward to interacting with everyone in this group!
Hi my name is Parisa and I was in a search for a good horror group and I found this one. I hope we have a great time together reading scary books :))
Hi, everyone! My name is Destiny and I think I was in this group a few years back, but I took a pretty big reading hiatus for a while and left all of my GR groups. Anyways, nice to meet you all! :)
Hi, I've been a member of Goodreads for several years now, but I have MS and three years ago, I woke up paralyzed and had to go to a re-hab house--had to learn to walk and talk again. So, yes, it feels like I'm starting over. I had two novels published: I'M NO P. I. and A Ghoulish Good Time. Alan Zacher
Not an introduction, rather "I'm back"! My teaching duties took me away from my favorite group site, but the semester is about done and I'm looking forward to reconnecting with you all and reading some great works over the summer.
