Hi all! I watch horror movies exclusively, listen to both horror & true crime podcasts, and listen to a lot of "dark" bands... But somehow, aside from the big names, I never got into horror books! I never knew where to start, so I just kept watching scary movies, and reading other genres. I'm really looking forward to discovering new authors & books! I do live in Florida, so it's basically a horror story every day. I'm also a big Lovecraft nerd - I have a full sleeve of Cthulhu, and reread his stories frequently.
Hi there Lindsay! I admire your taste of dark music. You mentioned discovering new authors & books, please give this a gander:Control Factor - The Trilogy
Although I've written two books, Autumn Dark and The Pig Man, I'm more of a reader than I am an author.Reader suggestions: Chills by Mary SanGiovanni, A Long December by Richard Chizmar, Certain Dark Things by M.J. Pack, The Summer of Blind Joe Death by Thomas Pluck, and Ghoul and The Complex by Brian Keene.
A good action packed horror: Raven's Peak (a trilogy) by Lincoln Cole
And if you're into mermaids: Undreneath by Michelle Arzu
HiDuring browsing I came across this group, I'm always on the look out for new authors of horror, and recognized a few books I've read that's up for review.
Love works by Joe Hill, Adam Nevill, Susan Hill, Josh Malerman & Jonathan Aycliffe (Denis M. MacEoin) to name but a few.
I've a few books in my to read list so it will be good to read a few reviews before purchase.
Hey there,My name's Mike and I'm a big-time horror/monster/spooky/creepy/eek fan. I'm more of a movie watcher, but I'm always looking for good book/movie recommendations.
I'm also a youth services librarian who wants to bring some chills to our graphic novel/non-fiction collection, so I look forward to seeing what everyone is talking about!
Hi there, I've been into horror since I was too young to read and watch it! I'm from "up north" in England and mostly into the more atmospheric, supernatural or metaphysical side of horror in literature, but as far as films go anything horror is up for a viewing ( Splatter, Melt movies, grind-era stuff, J-Horror, Old B-movies, Slashers - like I said - anything!)My favourite horror books are Kwaidan, Cabal and House of Leaves (I know the last one is hard to pin genre wise). So If you've got any good books in mind, especially ones that aren't too heavy on the zombies but big on spookiness, then I'm up for hearing about them!

Welcome to HA, Jackie!
Hello all,
I'm fairly new to Good Reads, have had a profile for a short while, and haven't been at all active, as I've been studying hard. I am about to start some research for my Masters Degree on Professional Writing, and I am writing a horror fiction novel as my final 6 month project. I am currently developing a questionnaire which will look at horror novel trends, and I would be delighted for volunteers from people who are willing to either answer my questionnaire or be interviewed by me for my degree.
Please do let me know. Thank you in advance!
Best wishes.
Angela

Hi there! Nice to meet you, in a QWERTY sort of a way, hope you start using your profile to its fullest extent and we get to interact again here sometime.
Best of luck BTW with your quest for a higher level of education!

I feel you. I joined in 2009 and didn't do much with my profile until a few weeks ago. I think I'm becoming quite the navigator though now. *dons captain's hat......but still puts on floaties just in case*. :P
Hi Horror Aficionados,i'm a fan of horror fiction since my teenage hands first touched the cover of a Stephen King book. Since then I branched out and got to know a lot more authors, but as I am never content with my collection of literature, I am always open for recommendations. Furthermore i am no native english speaker, so if i make mistakes, i hope you forgive me.
Since all my real life friends are easy too scare, i have no one to chat about my favourite books and look forward to take part in group reads.
Cheers from Germany,
Josh
Welcome, I'm sure you will find lots of hardcore, horror, fans on here who love a good scare and a good chat! Hope we cross paths in the future!
Welcome, Josh! I am not a native speaker too, so this is always a concern to me: Trying not to make mistakes. But this group is always receptive.
Hello!!I'm Cristiano, from São Paulo, Brazil.
I'm a horror aficcionado: lpce movies and books and will be very glad to share and receive.
You are all wellcome. Hugs!!!!
Welcome to HA Jackie, Angela, Josh, and Crisriano. The best advise I can give you is just jump in with both feet into discussions. We don't bite (much). I look forward to joining the discussions with you and reading your reviews.
Hi! I'm Aiya. I'm 22, just about to finish college, and I love a good horror story. I like great ghost tales the most, but anything that's creepy and unsettling and scary interests me. I really don't like stuff that's more body horror/torture porn.I've been a horror fan since I was about seven years old and my parents rented Sixth Sense from the video store. I wasn't allowed to watch it, but snuck down the hallway and hid under a table. >_- I didn't get to finish watching it at the time - I screamed when the ghost girl under the bed reached out to grab the little boy. LOL
Looking forward to finding out about some great new horror stories!
Thanks, everyone! Feel free to friend me if you want -- I'm nosy and like to see what people are reading! ^_-

Hello everybody, I have just joined the group and I am pleased to see there are so many fans of horror out there. I am an avid reader and collector of horror books published from the 60's through to modern day.Always happy to discuss horror novels and authors and make some new friends :) Interested to know what books other members have read which have actually scared them.
Hello everyone. I'm Kirsten McKenzie from Auckland, New Zealand. I normally write historical fiction, but have moved into the horror genre... Formerly petrified of vampires, I can now watch and read those, but add in a haunted doll or a possessed child, or things that go bump in the night, and I'm awake for days, but still can't look away!
