Hello my name is Shaheer Henderson I love horror stories and I look forward to learning and understanding more about them.
Hi, my name is Nancy and I have been reading horror books since middle school. So I am now pretty much desensitized and the books don't scare me anymore. That's okay, I still enjoy them as long as they have a good plot and can keep me on the edge of my seat.
Hello everybody.
My name is Cristina and I am from Spain.
The first horror book y read was "Pet cemetery", when I was a girl. I love this book and I haven't stopped read horror books since then (I read another kind of books, but horror books are my favorites).
Saludos para todos desde España.

long time lurker, first time poster. My name is phil. Kentucky born and bred. Horror obsessed ever since I picked up my father's copy of IT when I was ten years old.(hey, the title was written in what looked like blood and there was a demon hand coming out of a drain. I HAD TO READ IT). Everyone here seems to be an intelligent group of cats who knows their stuff. I'm sure there's an entire world of authors and books out there I need to be exposed to.So, hey there, everyone. Look forward to discussions!
Hi Phil!! Welcome!! I'm the same way with book covers. Especially horror. The creepier cover, the better! :)
Hi everyone, glad to know you all. I'm Freddy, from Shanghai, China. I'm a translater and literary agent. I help the local publishing companies find good foreign books, mainly SciFi and Fantasy. If you guys have any excelent books, intersting and innovative, please feel free to introduce them to me. I'm eager for anything good.
Also,I'm happy to discussing and sharing good books with you all.
Good day. :)
Hi all.I am Saha, and I should get this out of the way first: I am the worst scaredy cat I know. Like "put the book in the freezer" kind of scaredy cat. And yet I can't stop myself! I don't mind the supernatural at all, but the paranormal, and human horror, just make me want to hide under my covers with enough chocolate, and a baseball bat (which I have bought already).
Thank you Rebecca!I should ask, if someone can point me to the right direction, is there a folder in this group for newbies like me to start "easing in" to the genre?

Welcome, Saha. Horror Afficionados has a vast wealth of knowledge within it's folders. I'm sure we can steer you in the right direction. What kind of horror do you enjoy? What above favorite horror authors or stories?

Good questions! Let's see. From the classics I do enjoy Poe and Lovecraft, though I have not had much experience with anyone more contemporary than Stephen King (and I have only read the Dark Tower series of his). One of my favourite short horror stories is I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. I don't particularly care for the literary equivalent of Snuff/Hack&Slash movies. I think I would enjoy more creepy horror than bloody horror... hope this gives you some idea, I am willing to experiment and read any books that would be considered "classic" for each kind of horror, and get a better understanding of them to form a starting point.
Hi everyone, finally getting round to introducing myself! The name's Adam and I love horror. Mr King to Mr Laymon to Mr Hutson and everything in between! I love 80s B movie horrors, and cult sci-fi paperbacks, the ones with great covers. I used to love Koontz, and still like his older work (and his old, old sci-fi) but his latest attempts are just too poor and make me sad...I have a question I want to put out there! I'm searching for a short story that was set on Halloween - the main character kept seeing carved pumpkins everywhere (and I think there was something wrong with the eye). The tension was built up and built up until the end when the 'monster' appeared *spoilers* I think it was a family member who had lost an eye or something... any ideas anyone?
To sign off, I'll just mention that I'm giving the horror genre a go myself with my debut novel, The Risen. If you happen to take an interest, I'm eternally humbled and hope you like!
