Hi, Horror Aficionados. My name is Steve and I'm wondering if a thread has been written about Stephen King's Gunslinger series? I've never read those books, but have wanted to for some time. Is it worth the effort, or does the end fall a bit flat like some of King's other big books (Stand, IT, for example). Thanks in advance.
S.J. wrote: "Hi, Horror Aficionados. My name is Steve and I'm wondering if a thread has been written about Stephen King's Gunslinger series?"S.J., the consensus among my friends is that the Dark Tower series is among SK's weaker work. I've never read them because I've been warned away.
Hi everyone. I used to have a big group of dedicated horror-minded friends to talk books and movies with, but then I moved to a new state and I haven't found a similarly awesome in-person group. I miss the discussions and recommendations and camaraderie! This looks like a great group for that! I'm a librarian and a book reviewer for a librarian review journal, and I read widely, though I read more genre stuff than anything else. I love horror especially in short story form, and I love horror movies that are more psychological than gore (though who doesn't love a good 80s slasher, am I right?). Ghost stories and Lovecraftian stories are probably my favorite.

Welcome!
Judging from you "read" shelf, the community has something to do now ;-).

Thanks, all. @Ashley, that's what I've been reading on threads too. I guess the real question is, do I want to invest the time...?
Hi everyone!I'm Maegan, 39 years old and have been a horror fan (books and movies) ever since I snuck-read "IT" when I was 12 years old.
I've poked around this group for quite a while looking for ideas on what to read, and finally decided to bite the bullet and join.
Hi, my name is Stephen McQuiggan, a horror writer who has been obsessed with the genre for as long as I can remember. Most everyone I know think my passion is morbid so it'll be nice to meet some like-minded people
Susan wrote: "Hi, my name's Susan May and I read The Exorcist when I was twelve, twice, so I was a creepy kid! Now I write creepy dark thrillers. I've been around Good Reads for years filing books and then addi..."Hi Susan, I was a creepy kid too and grew up to be a creepy writer. I can't believe the land that gave us the majestic Nick Cave would shy away from a bit of darkness in their movies.
Jacob wrote: "Anybody read house of leaves yet? I'm waiting for my copy and interested in what people think of it."Hi Jacob, I think it is one of the most infuriating, brilliant, and ultimately unique novels I've ever read. I think you may well love it and hate it in equal measure.
Hi everyone,my name is Daniel, 34 years old and based out of Hamubrg, Germany.
I have loved Horror movies and literature ever since I can remember and the only thing I am probalby more obsessive about is Heavy Metal which has been my biggest passion for more than 20 years now.
Besides that I love me a fine glass of wine, cooking a delicious meal and exploring the nature with my dog Apollon.
Looking forward to meeting other aficionados and dive deeper into the realms of the obscure and macabre.
Herzlich willkommen, Daniel :).

Hello all! I'm a lover of all things HORROR, but lately I have been leaning towards really atmospheric ghost stories like those from Susan Hill. Looking forward to getting great recommendations and discussing the good, the bad and the really never should have been published! Also as a lowly library employee I am always looking for new authors to add to our collection.

Hi everyone, I'm Brittany. Been a member for a while but have yet had the time to comment on much while on Goodreads. I am a lover of all types of horror but I must say I am a Stephen King fan as well. I am an aspiring author and have a novel that needs completing. I am also have a librarian degree which I hope to put to use once I find work.
Hi - I'm Mikana, I read a lot of young adult / fantasy, which I mix up with horror books. I've read mainly Richard Laymon and Stephen King before, but I have picked out a few books by Stephen King (that I have yet to read) and Clive Barker to read sooner.I'm also a rat owner, and from Australia.
