Hello and welcome to HA, Zoe!Nicholas, Straub is more of a literary horror writer. As such, sometimes his books, most especially Ghost Story, Floating Dragon and Shawdowland, are dense and hard to get into at first.
That said, Ghost Story was my favorite book for many years and Shadowland was not far behind.
But as always with books, your mileage may vary.
Hi. I'm Evan. I'm a horror writer and lifelong fan of horror fiction and movies. I'm mostly here to talk shop. I see a lot of people asking for recommendations... I'm like a walking dictionary of the genre (especially when it comes to film), so ask away. :)
Hello, I'm new to the board and am very excited to join a community of readers and share ideas and experiences with books and the world!
Hi there! I'm Kayla! I love horror novels and movies, and I'm always looking for an unusual novel that I haven't read or the latest and greatest. I taught a college course on horror, so I'm also interested in more academic works on horror if anyone has any recommendations.
Hi everyone, I'm new to Goodreads. I discovered it by accident when I googled myself and saw my books on here. lolI am a huge sci-fi/horror and fantasy geek. So much so that not only do I try my best to write the stuff, but I am also currently filming my own sci-fi/horror web series. I just love to create and tell stories. I honestly havn't read a real good horror novel in a long time, so recommendations are appreciated. I recently got my son into reading Neil Gaimans The Graveyard book. Anyways, thanks for having me, and I look forward to getting to know the group.
Hey you guys!I'm quite new here, and to Goodreads in general :)
I enjoy horror, fantasy and what's in between the two.
I'm also a self proclaimed writer, though I guess that many in a group such as this would share such a title with me.
Looking forward to participating in the group!
Tal
Hello. Nice to meet you, Tal & Zeke.
how's edward lee I tried reading brides of the ....something and it kinda draged out didn't finish it.but he keeps coming up on my to read list
Hello all! I have been a lifelong lover of anything horror! I am an avid reader, and, believe it or not, started writing horror stories in the 3rd grade! Alas, my literary ambitions have fallen by the wayside, but I thoroughly enjoy glimpsing the horrors inside the minds of other authors! I especially love the classics, but am always looking for something new. I just got a Kindle, and I think I'm obsessing over filling the thing with horror novels! Nice to find a group that feels like home!
Hey guys,I'm Onori and I'm a horror junkie (obviously). I've been lurking for a little bit and decided what the hell, I might as well join. I so look forward to participating in this group.
Hi everyone, I'm William from Oban in Bonny Scotland. I hope to have many discussions about our mutual love of the Horror genre.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Hello everyone, I'm Courteney and I'm from California. I've been a fan of the horror genre since before I can remember, starting when I was very young with R. L. Stine's Goosebumps novels and anything by Christopher Pike to Tanith Lee and classic horror as a teenager. I put off reading horror as an adult until I could read The Shining by Stephen King and I'm kind of disappointed to say there wasn't really any point in the book where I was truly terrified. There were times in the book where I was a little on edge, but never really scared. I am currently on the search for things that will actually terrify me, things that are truly thrilling to read or watch or videogames to play because I've become a little disenchanted with the ability for the horror genre in any medium to scare me with anything other than cheap jump scares.
Hi I'm Rebecca. I am a proud New Englander. I love to read and watch movies. I'm also an aspiring writer. I've been writing for 11 years but haven't been published yet. Hopefully someday. I like to read horror more than watching, however, I love the classic films. My favorite is The Shining. I also love to cook.I look forward to participating in discussions and meeting new people. :)

Aww, thanks, William. All of us mods work hard to make HA a great place to be. :)
Hello to all. :-)I'm new to the group (and Goodreads too!) and like many of the other folk that have posted in this thread, I'm an author as well as a reader. I'm looking forward to some stimulating conversations and recommendations for new writers and books -- or old writers and books that I haven't come across before!
