they could just share the same general ideas? like different essential powers but still in the same category.

maybe maia could have ( don't know exactly what to call it ) memory telepathy where she can see any memory from someone next to her even if they're not thinking about the memory and another form of telepathy?

so i guess they're like best friends, but still fight with each other a bit, and maia was let out of the safe haven after luna, so luna found maia with a lot of luck.
i'm also thinking that maia's a bit pesky, if that's okay with you, so she and luna are always acting annoyed with each other but really love each other. (luna's pesky too, so they both bother each other.)
