Addy | 5114 comments It's a website called paperback swap.com. You can swap books for a fee. It's pretty cool.

message 302: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments Sounds like its been good for you. I was worried about the quality of books I'd get, but really you run the same risk buying them used on Amazon, too.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments sounds like a weird website so you swap books with people?

message 304: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yeah. They have a large database of books. Just about any book you can think of. Sometimes no one has posted it, so u can add it to your wish list or if it's available, you can order it from whoever has the book. It's worked out fine for me.

message 305: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Now if someone orders your book, you get a credit u can use for a book of your choice and it's only like a .50 cent fee.

Terry | 5367 comments Another book I was thinking of trying to work in around Halloween is The Wolf's Hour by Robert McCammon.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Hmm...never heard of it I'll check it out rite now, but yea I mean after we finish Laymon's Beast House series we can start these reads with these books we just need to make a list of the ones were definitely going to do around Halloween time. I mean we have the whole month of October & probably the end of September.

message 308: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yeah, I do like McCammon but for some reason I don't think I could get myself to read that one because it's about spies and I'm not too keen on spy novels. You'd have to let me know how it is.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Wait so where does the werewolf come in?

message 310: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Well, the spy is the wolf I think

message 311: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I could be wrong but the description I read wasn't very clear

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Wait...huh?? O_O lol I figured it was a horror novel there has gotta be a better description somewhere

message 313: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments I've had a couple of recommendations to read it, but I think it is a dark hero kind of story with the main character as a werewolf, a mix of horror and action. I believe he is a spy in WWII.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Ohh ok well that's a better explanation than the book gives lol I've read a lot of war books never a horror war one tho

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Ok so what books are we reading I know so far it's
The Midnight Tour
?
?
?
I just want to know so if I don't have them I can buy them ahead of time.

message 316: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments 1. Midnight Tour/Friday Night at the beast house
2. The Manse maybe
3. Goodnight Moom
4. Rosemary's baby/son of Rosemary
Am I forgetting any?

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Ok cool I ordered Friday Night at the Beast House already should be here within 2 weeks latest so I just have to grab Son of Rosemary, Goodnight Moom, & The Manse & whenever we decide on a Stephen King we could throw that in also

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments & I know eventually I wanna read Clive Barker's Weaveworld & Nick Cutter's The Deep & whenever these Edward Lee's The Black Train comes in that too so if you guys want to do those with me just lmk I know, Addy, you said you want to do The Black Train & possibly Clive Barker's maybe

message 319: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yes, to all of those, but didn't u read The Deep?

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Nope only read until Chapter 3 or 4 & then stopped for something else I read The Troop by Nick Cutter I always get those 2 mixed up because the covers look almost the same

message 321: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Oh ok. If I can get a copy, I'll do that one too.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I should probably invest in a nook or kindle because some of these books are hard to find in softcover or hardcover

message 323: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yes, you should. I would have given u my old one, had I known you before. I gave away a tablet nook and a nook simple. I would recommend a kindle anyway. IMO it's better than nook.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea I downloaded the app I just have to make a Amazon account apparently to start it? But I just hate reading on my phone sometimes because the battery & it's always like 600 pages for a 2-300 page book lol but it's not that bad

message 325: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments The plus side to that is when u get a kindle and as long as ur hooked up to wifi, u can automatically sync to the last page u read, whether it's the kindle app or the physical kindle. I love it because sometimes I forget my kindle and read on my phone.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Oh that's pretty cool I guess one of many a perk about kindle

message 327: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments The ones you guys listed are the ones I was planning on. Still need to get a few of them, but I do have Midnight Tour already. I'm still holding out against the kindle or nook, though. I love having the book in my hands and on my shelf when I'm done!

message 328: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments I went looking for The Black Train last weekend, and ended up picking up a copy of The Long Walk, along with another Laymon book, Savage, that I'd not heard of before.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Oh yea Savage is a great Terry from what I heard it takes place in the old western days I believe, but with Jack the Ripper I hear it's one of his best books he has written heard a lot of good reviews about it. & oh nice I guess we can throw The Long Walk up there too. & I'm the same as you Terry I like actually having the book in hands it's cool how the kindle and nook the technology part of it & I'll probably still get one, but I'll always buy the book if it's one I like I even have soapy doubles that I'm still iffy about giving up because at one of the book stores I can trade it in for store credit, but I just like the thought of having a couple of copy's just in case specially if it's books I like

message 330: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments Yeah, the Jack the Ripper tie-in sounded interesting in Savage. Always interested in seeing documentaries about Jack, and all the theories are fascinating. I figure I'll eventually have to do the kindle, too, and it worries me that they'll stop producing hard copies of books. I hope that isn't for a long time though!

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea I don't know I feel publishing groups and authors wouldn't let that happen I feel like they get way more money for hardcover & softcover than kindle & those they charge like 2.99 per book

message 332: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I've heard Savage is good too. Have yet to find a copy though:(

message 333: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I'm gonna start a thread today for beast house but I'm just gonna call it laymon reads since it might be an ongoing thread.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea were probably going to be reading a lot of his books lol I plan on getting his hole collection I'm pretty close just need a few more

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments One of the book stores I go to had probably about 15 of his books & I ended up buying all of them & then orders the rest he's hard to find specially after he passed away everybody wants to keep there Laymon copy's. I had the hardest time finding a copy of The Cellar I had to wait 2 months & then I didn't even get a original copy I had to buy a reprint, but I didn't mind as long as I had it. I know that the publishing group 47 North does all of his reprints now so if you guys are ever looking for them. Luckily most of mine are the original Headline makes or Leisure.

message 336: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yeah, I have been ordering them steadily since I hardly run into any. I was so excited to get Quake. That one is a toughie to find but I ended up ordering it on half.com.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Quake was my second Laymon book I got I am so lucky I got the first edition from Headljne brand new still it's mint condition I was so happy I still haven't read it yet, but can't wait because it's a different type of story for Laymon I feel. To me it's a really cool plot & concept

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments I was also thinking at some point we should read one of Graham Masterton's books. He always has pretty good horror story's. The next one I wanted to read was The House that Jack Built. I heard really good reviews about it.

message 339: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments The quake is a huge read too! I would love to read Graham masterton although I don't have that one. I'll have to see if I can get it.

message 340: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments I haven't read any of Masterton's books. That one sounds pretty interesting.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea Quake is like 500+ pages, but yea I mean if you want we can do one of the Graham books we both have Addy if that makes it easier I just thought that the one I said had a creepy feel to it and I heard it's one of his best books

message 342: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments It does look really good but I do have a few others we could read. How bout Prey? That one got good reviews too.

message 343: by Terry (new) - rated it 3 stars

Terry | 5367 comments Either sound good to me.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Yea I have Prey I'll read that one if you want. I can always read the other one another time

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Prey is actually based on H.P. Lovecraft 's short story "The Dreams in the Witch House" which I thought was pretty cool that Graham took it & made it into a full novel with his own twist

message 346: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments I didn't know that. That's pretty cool! Ok. So we can add that to the list and The Long Walk by King.

Adamus (Like Adonis, but with a M) | 806 comments Ok cool I'm almost done with the Beast House I have like 30 pages left so if you still want to start the Midnight Tour Saturday I'll be ready

message 348: by Addy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Addy | 5114 comments Yes, Saturday sounds good!
