If it works as advertised I'll probably add it to my phone.
Assuming of course they have the books I want.

Mark Catalfano (cattfish) Wonder when this will be integrated into kindle and stuff like that. Also, what if you have to blink? no doctor who jokes!

Warren | 1556 comments That's what I'm waiting to find out.
I wonder if they even have the patents.
If not then other player will just roll out their own versions.
Either way 500 wpm will be nice.

IOS has had a similar app for over a year.
http://readquickapp.com/

It;s mostly for reading online articles but eventually they could add book support.

I probably wouldn't use them for book reading as my mind tends to drift and it's easy to find my place if the words are not flashing past.

Ben (bennewton_1) This would be amazing for textbooks and studying

Mark Catalfano (cattfish) $10 is too costly just to read web pages, for that I'd expect ebook coverage at least!

I found it annoying. I also don't like their pitch about "you were probably turned away from reading GoT because it's over 800 pages".

No. No I wasn't.

For me reading is a recreation. This seems to turn it into something else entirely. I know there are a ton of books out there and I'll never get to them all, but what's the rush?

For me I'd rather just curl up and read at my own pace. I'm not in a race..

Michelle | 13 comments I agree with Rob. I read to relax and enjoy the story. But with just trying this sample, the voice in my head

There was no emotion to the tone. No sentence flow, It was just a list of words. Or in some cases just syllables. Zero enjoyment, with fiction at least.

I could see it helping for the books I'm forced to read for work, they're not always high priority or interesting. Last one could put me to sleep in 3 pages, so getting through business self help faster would be nice. "Yes boss. I'm done already, great book, couldn't put it down!"

Joanna Chaplin | 1175 comments I think it speeds up reading, but not necessarily comprehension. I jump around a bit while reading. Having my pace dictated to me, no matter what it was, would drive me up a wall. Some sentences can be glanced over, and some sentences should be savored. My reading has a dynamic tempo.

Tamahome | 7216 comments This site is supposed to increase your focus: http://focusatwill.com At least I find it relaxing.

If reading were only about the words, and words needed to all move through your mind at the same pace, this might work. All it's doing is help you skim. I love books that make me slow down.

Grim (grimnir) | 40 comments I can.speed.read but I.don't enjoy it I prefer to enjoy a.book. I'll speed.read.past the stuff I find boring...... too much scenery clothing descriptions etc but action or back.story or.character development that deserves appreciation that comes with a leisurely pace that allows you too think about the words their meaning interferences etc. a novel is a leisure past time its not a chore, so why would you want too rush it and.potentially ruin the experience?
