Not the sort of thing you want to hear when you've got plans for your future. All I can say is that you will have to write until your hands drop off and sell millions of books. X

What Jim said. If I hadn't been made redundant I doubt I'd ever have finally got my finger out and written my books. I might never have had my son. Financially I'm a lot worse off but I suspect I'm much happier and more fulfilled as a person. We humans dislike change but sometimes, when we are forced to embrace it, it can do good things for us.Cheers

That's bad news Matthew, I'm sorry to hear it. Hope you get something soon and can give them the finger. They are undeserving of you.
Thanks everybody :) Your lovely words really mean a lot. I've been doing some thinking and have some ideas over what I want to do.I have a school visit lined up on 8th September to help me structure a plan to put to schools about visiting as an author. It's a freebie as it's at my fiancees school, but they said they will give me a good reference and help me work out how to structure my visits.
I may also get into a friends school, then I can start charging. It's difficult in this day and age to get in, with budgets etc but I'm definitely going to try and do a little sideline in school visits from 2017.
I've seen a course I'm interested in, which may cut into book writing time, but as it's writing related I think it may help me and how I self edit before sending it to proofers. Short term it may slow me down, but long term it should help.
Plus I will look for work, I may be stuck in payroll but if it pays the bills then that's what has to happen. The school visits may increase over time and if my studying comes to fruition in 12 months time I may be able to start my own part-time business.
It's all up in the air, but if and that;s a big IF, all went according to plan I could potentially work part-time in payroll and part-time doing schools and what I mam going to study.
That's the best case scenario, and life rarely works out like that but this has actually given me a wake up and made me look at things I enjoy and if I can get some work out of using writing, it will be much better than with figures, which I hate! haha
Sorry to hear your news Matthew, looking forward to hearing how your plan develops. My brother-in-law was made redundant a few years ago , he set up his own business and has never looked back.
Yeh, McOther works with folks who invent stuff. There is always more on after an economic crash because folks get made redundant and decide to develop that thing they've invented in their shed. Most of them go onwards and upwards too.Cheers

Very sad this morning - there was a dead cat on the pavement outside my house. Obviously loved and would be missed as it had a really pretty collar on. I put a notice on FB and within an hour - I found out that it belonged to the neighbour who lives at the back of my house. She was very upset - but at least now the cat can have a proper burial.
That's very sad, that happened to my friend's cat last week. It's better to find out quickly though, than wonder what happened to them forever.
That is so true Lynne. Our little Jeffery went missing when we moved house in 1971 - it is now 2016 and I still wonder what happened to him - still hope that someone took him in and gave him a good life.
Good luck with it all Matthew, looking at your plans I think you are going to be just fine !That's so sad Flo, not a good way to start the day. I'm glad you found her owner though.
One of the saddest things I have ever seen was a lady discovering the body of her cat by the A10. It was ginger and it had been there for about 24 hours and I'd been wondering what to do about it (this was pre Facebook). I felt so sorry for her that I cried. But as others have said, at least she knew what had happened to it and had closure. I don't let our cat out at night for that very reason.
Does anyone have a spare hug, please? No strings, no irony, no jokes and no questions? I just really need a hug, please.
Thanks, guys, they really help. It's been a tough, week full of downs and everything coalesced into one, last night. Still, I'm back on my feet this morning and ready to go again. Thanks, again.
What's up sweetheart ? What ever it is then sending((((((((((HUGS))))))))) hope it sorts itself out quickly, here if you need us x X X X
