Marie | 295 comments PAUSE MUNAAAHHHH!!!!

I need to give you guys today's score tally kasi. :-D

message 416: by Marie (new)

Marie | 295 comments Here's the tally of accepted posts (nakatulog na ba kayo? nakakatrabaho pa ba nyo? mweheheheheh):

Total accepted points
Each accepted posts is supposed to correspond to 5 points. Deductions not included pa.

Bennard: 28 + 14 = 42 accepted posts
Monique: 23 + 17 = 40 accepted posts
Kristel: 13 + 15 = 28 accepted posts
Beatrice 12 + 7 = 19 accepted posts
Angus: 12 + 15 = 27 accepted posts
Aaron: 7 + 2 = 9 accepted posts
Ingrid: 4 + 3 = 7 accepted posts
Tina: 2 accepted posts
Tin: 2 + 12 = 14 accepted posts
Blue (uy, may bagong playa!): 9 accepted posts

Deductions:

Angus:
(-2.5 points) Re: "Brave New World" (reply for keyword "uselessness"): Repeat of book for keyword "government" (posted by Ingrid)

Kristel:
(-2.5 points) Re: Theodore Rex (reply to keyword "teddy bears"): Despite the trivia on Pres. Roosevelt giving his name on the said toy, the book in question is on Theodore Roosevelt, not on teddy bears.

Monique:
(-2.5 points) Re: "The Hunger Games" (reply for keyword "burning houses"): Repeat of book for keyword "government" (posted by Ingrid)

Bennard:
(-2.5 points) Re: HP & the Deathly Hollows (reply for keyword "necklace"): The horocrux in questions is "Sytherin's locket", meaning they are referring to only the pendant, rather than the entire necklace (pendant + chain). Think it this way, say the locket was torn from the chain (i.e. the necklace was divided into two parts), do you think Harry and the gang would also focus their attention on the chain?

(-2.5 points) Re: "The Stand" (reply for keyword "broken bones"): Repeat of book for keyword "Apocalypse" (posted by Tin)

(-2.5 points) Re: Julius Caesar (reply to keyword "song titles"): Despite the trivia on the book being the basis of a Pink Floyd song, the book in question is not about song titles.

Tin:
(-2.5 points) Re: Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire (reply for keyword "sphinx"): Repeat of book for keyword "journalism" (posted by Beatrice)

Blue:
(-5.0 points) Re: Lolita & Girl with the Pearl Earring (replies for keyword "May-December love affairs"): Lolita grants Humbert with sexual favors but it was not a love affair. For the second book, there may be attraction between Griet & Vermeer, but they didn't had an actual affair. (nice one, Angus!)

(-5.0 points) Re: Bridges of Madison County & Eight Girls Taking Pictures (replies for keyword "camera obscura"): Both books are about photography, not on the specific object camera obscura (which is an optical device which is a precursor to the photographic camera; it's a totally different object from what the people in the books you've mentioned are using). (nice one, Kristel!)

TALLY OF POINTS as of 5:20pm August 19, 2015

Bennard (the head adik pa rin!): 137.5 + 62.5 = 200 points
Monique (very very close second): 112.5 + 85 = 197.5 points
Kristel: 65 + 72.5 = 137.5 points
Angus: 57.5 + 72.5 = 130 points
Beatrice: 55 + 35 = 90 points
Tin: 7.5 + 57.5 = 65 points
Aaron: 32.5 + 10 = 42.5 points
Ingrid: 20 + 15 = 35 points
Blue: 35 points
Tina: 10 points

*presses play* Let the game continue!!! :-D

Addendum: Pero syempre consolation prizes lang yung sa second and third, heheheheh...

message 418: by Kristel (last edited Aug 19, 2015 02:54AM) (new)

Kristel (fanarchist) | 489 comments I would like to contest the deduction. The story of the teddy bear is something that greatly affected Roosevelt's legacy. According to the story, that he had a chance to shoot a bear during a hunt, Roosevelt refused to. When people heard about this story, his popularity skyrocketed and the teddy bear was born. This cemented his legacy as a nature-lover and benevolent father of the US nation. His successor William Taft even attempted to cash in on the stuffed to phenomenon, creating the toy "Billy the Possum"

But this is not a vigorous contention because I did not write this on the post.... Gusto ko lang inote na may backstory sya:P

message 421: by Marie (last edited Aug 19, 2015 02:57AM) (new)

Marie | 295 comments Hi Kristel!

The question is that is this story a theme or part of the book in question (i.e. "Theodore Rex")? Show me that the teddy bear story is a big part of the book (or kahit man lang a chapter or a section or a passage), and I will remove the deduction.
