message 101: by Robin P (new)

Robin P I've been updating my original post as I finish books, hopefully that won't get too hard when we have a lot more pages, I started around June 1st and am on book 6 so not bad.

message 102: by Emily (new)

Emily (paperbacksandplanes) This is really cool! I'll be doing my research and entering my list sometime this week!

message 103: by Candy (new)

Candy Tiley I am still compiling my list but I like this challenge. It is calling attention to many books that I have wanted to read over the years but with new books coming out all of the time I have lost track of. A very interesting challenge!
Here is the beginning of my list:
1954 – Twenty-one Stories by Graham Greene (pub. In 1954)
1955 – Avalon, a novel by Anya Seton (first pub. In 1955)
1956 – Lady Sings the Blues by Billie Holiday (first pub. In 1956)
1957 – Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand (first pub. In 1957)
1958 – Candy by Terry Southern (first pub. In 1958)
1959 – The Breaking Point: stories by Dauphne du Maurier (first pub. In 1959) Little, Brown & Co.
1960 – To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (first pub. In 1960) (I have a paperback of this)
1961 – One Hand Clapping by Anthony Burgess (first pub. In 1961) (also wrote “A Clockwork Orange”
1962 – The Prize by Irving Wallace (pub. In 1962) (movie starred Paul Newman)
1963 – The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath (pub. In 1963)
1964 – The Glass Blowers by Daphne du Maurier (first pub. End of 1963)

message 109: by Han (new)

Han (hanvanmeegeren) | 10 comments This week I seriously begin to read the books from the challenge. I will read them in chronological order. The first book is from 1959: 100 Love Sonnets by Pablo Neruda.

I discuss it all week on by blog Infinitesimal Thoughts (Pablo Neruda week). Friday I conclude with a review of the book. I will discuss all books on the list that way (not all for a week :-).

A word of warning: This is an adult liberated blog, and those who feel offended by that should not go to the website at all. If you are a minor, there are a lot of other interesting sites. The link is http://hanvanmeegeren.blogspot.nl/

message 110: by Candy (new)

Candy Tiley I am having so much fun putting together my list that I am just now starting to read one of the books. I am starting with the first on my list - Twenty-one Stories by Graham Greene. I found a copy of his complete stories at Barnes & Noble so that made it an easy choice. So far I like the stories but they are quite strange. I like his writing style very much.

Glad to know that you're enjoying this challenge.

message 112: by Robin P (new)

Robin P I am jumping around in time as whims take me and updating my list at post #86. I have started many conversations when people ask me what I am reading and I describe the challenge. I've swapped out a couple when they weren't available or I just couldn't get into them. My favorite so far is Driftless. I am recommending it to everyone.

Robin P I read 17 since June 1, which is a good start as I have a total of 3 years to finish. For 2015 I am doing a Bingo challenge for another group with various book categories and also the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge (there is a group on GR for that) and I am planning to have some books count for all 3.
