Just finished the book yesterday. Enjoyed it enough that I'm ordering book #2 from the library.

I'm now reading Diving into the Wreck

Nyssa | 213 comments I'm currently reading The Cross-Time Engineer, and I'm very torn between enjoying the story and seething over the author's clearly misogynistic (and possibly racist) views!!

Don't let not enjoying Fionavar get in the way of starting Under Heaven - the two books are VERY different.

I looooooved Snow Flower and the Secret Fan :)

Helen That's good to know Shel, I loved his Tigana and Lions and have been trying to coax myself along, Lol. I read Snowflower purely to complete China for my around the world challenge. It was so lovely but quite sad too.

I finished At the Mountains of Madness last night, and though I found it very slow going I'm glad I read it. It was a little too much description for me - the very opposite of "show, don't tell" - but at the same time fascinating, both as the source material/inspiration for countless other authors, and also as a geology geek. When the book was written, what scientists thought they understood about the earth has since been proven to be utterly wrong, so I found it really interesting to read about Wegener's idea of continental drift being presented as this crazy far-out idea that the narrator was putting forth :)

(completely off-topic, but for a goofy history of Wegener and his theory check out this silly music video that I show my students every year: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1-cES...)

Anyway. This morning I started reading A Turn of Light and I'm not very far into it, but it's my first read by this author and I've heard wonderful things so looking forward to getting into it.

Finally started Altered Carbon for the April read.

message 65: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) I am still struggling through Revelation Space. Not the book's fault really, life got in the way.

As I managed to forget my copy somewhere, I reopened -again!- A Feast for Crows. Third time's the charm, right?
