Voting has been completed for the March/April Group Read. The two books selected are (drum roll please) Nothing to Lose, by Lee Child and In the Blood by Lisa Unger. Threads for both group reads will be open on the 20th of March. Rebecca will lead the discussion for Nothing to Lose and Gayla will do the same for In the Blood.

Enjoy!

As a reminder, please read the rules below:

General rules for Group Reads

1) If your nomination wins - you will be the discussion moderator.

2) One (1) nomination only per person. Neither self-nominations by authors nor nominations by their respective publishers or publicist will be accepted.

3) Do not cheat or manipulate results. It is not acceptable to create fake accounts to nominate books or vote in polls and it is not acceptable to invite people to the site for the sole purpose of nominating a book or voting for a book in a poll. It is not acceptable to ask for votes or influence the poll in any way. If the moderators feel that a group read poll has been manipulated, the book in question will be disqualified. If the moderators feel that the user(s) are fake accounts, these will be reported to Goodreads for further review.

4) Please do not repeat an author we have read in the last year. Check the bookshelves to see the authors we've read in the past year:

5) For your nomination please include Title, Author and Link (Use the "add book/author" link at the top of the comment box).

6) Since we are an international group, please check to make sure the book is readily available in more than one format. The last thing we want is to nominate a book that no one can get.

7) Finally, a word about series - the joy or bane of a mystery reader's life! Please consider whether the book you are nominating would be best read by someone who has read all the previous books in the series or can be enjoyed by someone new to the series too.

Ron (ronb626) | 3418 comments I nominate River of Darkness River of Darkness (John Madden, #1) by Rennie Airth by Rennie Airth.

The 1st of the John Madden trilogy. Maybe the best of the 3, but, all are good. Airth is a relatively unknown author, but, this trilogy is as good as it gets. Setting is in post-WWI England. While I don't really know much about that era in that area, it, at least, seems to be a rich time in a wonderful place. The characters are believable and very well rounded. The plot is tense and quickly paced. I think it would be a wonderful book to turn people on to a, relatively, new author. And, a new series.

I'll go with You're Next by Greg Hurwitz

message 12: by Gayla (new)

Gayla (gaylagal) In the Blood
I would love nominate In the Blood by Lisa Unger. This is the best book I've read in 2014 and since the non-stop thrill of Dr Sleep. In the Blood has a little something for everyone and that's one of the many reasons I really enjoyed this book :) Here is the link to an informative review:

Hi group -- if you could please remember to use the "add book" link, along with the author, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hi all
I just noticed that the group read Jeffrey Deaver back in September/October of 2013, so for those of you who nominated a book by him for this coming group read, you might wish to resubmit someone else. My apologies for not noticing this earlier. Thanks!

Ann | 151 comments I Nominate Jefferson Bass Cut to the Bone A Body Farm Novel (Body Farm, #0.5) by Jefferson Bass
This series is great! I've been hooked from the first book.
Note: Cut to the Bone was written as the 8th book in the series but is actually listed as #0.5 "the much awaited PREQUEL to the very 1st book, Carved in
Bone Carved in Bone (Body Farm, #1) by Jefferson Bass . I highly recommend reading it first because it really is written like the novel that started the entire series. Not sure why it was written long after book 1, (after book 7). I had only read #1 Carved in Bone when I noticed the discrepancy, so I went back and read Cut To the Bone as #0.5! I'm really glad that I did! It would be very out of place by the time one has read 7 books in series!
