I know! Especially the Nuryev book - it was hard cover, and HEAVY! I'm going to have to start purchasing e-book versions so I don't get carpal tunnel...

I just started it, Cherie, so I don't have an opinion yet. But I am happy that it's 400 pages shorter than Shogun! LOL!

Knocked off two more! I loved Tai-Pan - thought it was even better than Shogun Volume 1. Also, The Woman in White was wonderfully suspenseful. Hope my next books are as good!

Great you liked TWiW! I read it last year with Lisa and a couple of others. I found it in audio a couple of months ago and listened to it just to experience it again.

Have you read any of Daphne du Maurier? Frenchman's Creek was my favorite, but most people like Jamaica Inn and Rebecca better.

Your lists are impressive. Did you enjoy Middlemarch it's on my to read pile but I haven't got to it yet

Cherie: I've only read Rebecca and Jamaica Inn, but I agree, they are similar to The Woman in White. One of these days I'll have to read Frenchman's Creek!

Carolyn: Middlemarch is coming up next after I finish The House of Mirth. I'm looking forward to it as I loved the BBC series:)

I decided to replace Middlemarch with The Shell Seekers. I was running behind and I really needed to take more time with the former. I'll read it eventually, but The Shell Seekers was the perfect, engrossing chunkster that I needed right now.

Cherie: LOL! I started reading Julie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen: How One Girl Risked Her Marriage, Her Job, and Her Sanity to Master the Art of Living, and now all I want to do is cook (and eat), of course!

I read this book, although, it looks like I did not write a review for it, I gave it 4*s.

I loved Julia Child! I have read several books about her and I could not pass this one up.

When I'm done with this one I'm going to read My Life in France. I guess I'll just have to eat my way through October!

I loved this story! There is a lot of information about her and her husband and all of the work that went into writing that first book. It really was amazing.

Suzanne and Cherie, this is looking ahead a bit but are you both still up for doing a buddy read of The Name of the Wind in November? If so, when would be best to start? I can start it pretty much anytime during the month so let me know when is best for both of you.

Suzanne, you want to name the date? I think Peggy and I are trying to decide on a date for doing a buddy read in Nov too, but we haven't decided. I only know that I cannot do more than two chunksters in a month. I have no reading plans for Nov except this book, unless Peggy and I decide to do Voyager.

Knocked off the another chunkster! Helen of Troy wasn't as good as some of her other books, but I've always wanted to read it, so now I can say that I have. I too, will be reading two chunksters at the same time, so who knows which I will finish first? Whichever it is, it will help me to finish another section. I can hardly wait!
