Zara's Retreat Please discuss Mary Roach's book - Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void here.

Cheryl (cherylllr) It's loaded on my Mp3 player, has been for a long time, so I'm excited to start listening asap. My husband already listened to it and enjoyed it.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Well, I started listening to it, and the narrator is marvelous, but somehow I just couldn't get into it. So, I got a paper copy (which is the medium I'm very most comfortable with) and I'm still not engaging.

I think it's partly because of my life situation right now interfering with my ability to concentrate, and partly that there's not really much substance in the book on which to concentrate. It seems to be mostly a series of anecdotes, vignettes, and mini science lessons. Some are interesting, some are gross, some are funny. Roach, imo, tries too hard to add humor. But again, the narrator is, imo, lovely, and I would def. recommend you listen rather than read this.

David Rubenstein (davidrubenstein) | 8 comments I listened to this book as an audiobook. The narration was fine, the book is entertaining, but the author tries to be too cutesy for my taste. Here is my review.
