Five books? I thought Mistborn was a trilogy?

So was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. ;)

Though there is a 4th Mistborn book that isn't part of the original trilogy The Alloy of Law.
Thanks for catching that for me...

Nicely said, Luke. That's the attitude I have with what I read. If it speaks to me, it doesn't have to win a Pulitzer. Most of the time I find the great writing like that to be too distracting to actually enjoy the work.
Exception being Kay once more.

:) yeah, hubby mentioned something about that.

Let's call it even! There may not be five books, but there are apparently four. Thank you for making me aware! :)

It's the only explanation.

I believe that you are correct, and I'm super excited about it. I may have to sell my car to be totally into the pedestrian love that is the Mistborn series. :P

Now, that's wonderful prose.

I actually read a few chapters of TWOK last night (which is great for me if I got 50 total pages in). I'd been averaging a chapter a day, if that.
I'm liking the story, I've just had too many distractions and exhaustions.

But good gracious - there are so many options. I don't actually know why I'm driving myself crazy with it like this already... I don't plan on getting a new one for 6 months to a year or longer (and hopefully by then I'll have money to just buy the thing outright), so I have time to research... but I latch onto things and get fixated. *sigh*

I've been buying a house and we had the grandbaby over this weekend. Work has been tough because we're gearing up for our financial closeouts.

I've got a full-on spreadsheet going of different vehicular options going, so that I can track and compare what I like and don't.
But the more I research, the more I find that I need to add to it, so I may have to redo the whole thing. LOL

Furies of Calderon,Promise of Blood,The Worm Ouroboros,The Book of Lies,The Golem's Eye,The False Prince,The Broken Kingdoms,Blood Song,Gregor and the Marks of Secret,The Crown Tower,The Colossus Rises,The Dark Tide,Batman: The Night of the Owls, and The Desert Spear

Yeah. Well, not at the same moment, I'm not a robot.

I felt that way about TWOK... :)

Wow! How do you keep everything straight?
Off your current reads I've listened to The False Prince and read the Gregor books. Both were enjoyable. I tried the #2 in the False Prince and couldn't get into it this time around. I ended up abandoning it.

I have no idea. But I can't remember anyone's names in real life, so I guess that makes up for it. :)

That's TWO books though! I'm barely able to read 4 pgs!

It's the only explanation."
At least you gave him a shot. I can't even work myself up that far. He's one of those authors where I think I really ought to try, but the blurbs + page length do nothing for me.

Okay...back to thread topic!
I am currently reading Red Rising. I just got The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America from the library and am eager to read it (it's been on my holds list for awhile). I plan to read The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making and whatever else catches my fancy from my library books/pile of books in my room.

Oh wow, I did not know this! Do we know anything about it?

That's so like me! But I'm always forgetting where I put things, forgetting to turn off the lights etc, but I can read several books at once or put a book down for six months and pick up where I left off because I still remember everything about it :)

Hurrah. Ooh that means you have Changes up next!!
I continue to resist the cult of Sanderson :). Ri..."
Paul, I keep meaning to try Mieville, but can't make myself take the plunge. What is your opinion of his work? Is there a good starting point?
(this goes for anyone who's read anything by China Meville)

Maybe we suffer from a rare disease called bookpreferentitis, that causes the real world to be more forgettable than books.

I'm not sure if I'm one of the ones that told Colleen to read Mistborn or not, but at this point I'd tell her not to bother. She's already tried several of his works and wasn't impressed. Not likely to change with another try.
I get what you're saying. I'll still stand by the fact that it speaks to me, regardless to its quality. Maybe I'm a simpleton. Mieville speaks too far above my head for me to grasp it. Sanderson does speak to my level.
Whatever works. I do need to try some Glen Cook, btw. Been meaning to. I've tried a short story or two and liked it.

fivethree books 5-star ratings. Enjoyed it a lot more than most of what I've seen called wonderful prose.Though Kay is a very good example (rarity) of beautiful prose that actually doesn't come across as pretentious. Most of the time I dislike authors that try to show me how much smarter they are with their flowerly prose, but Kay doesn't do that. His writing is simply art that can be appreciated by the higb-brow as well as simpletons.
