The Great Hunt
question
Lack of motivation to re-read

This may seem random, but does anybody else suffer from, I dunno, Reading block? =\ I've read the Robert Jordan set of books about a bazillion times, but not since the final book came out, so I still don't know the ending, and I wanted to re-read them all again and finish the series, but for some reason, I just can't find it in myself to read them? before starting these I was reading a series of books that I wasn't overly fond of (Sorcerer's Ring) but I was reading about 3 hours a day, since I've started the WoT series again, I'm reading for like, 20 minutes a day, I just don't have the motivation to re-read them? Anybody ever had that, or got any suggestions on getting the motivation back? really want to read the final book as I've been a WoT fan since like, 2002 or so, and I don't think I can read just the final book as I don't wanna be like "who was that character again" "what happened between them" and all that =\
thanks for your time guys!!! =D

I like the idea of listening to an audiobook to "re-read" a book, Naiya.
Sometimes, your tastes may have changed and (heaven forbid!) you no longer like Robert Jordan and fantasy. If that's the case, then as Naiya suggested, switching genres for awhile might help. I do that regularly and I believe it does keep me from burning out on a genre.
You also have to keep in mind that the Jordan books are all 600-700 pages long and there are 15 of them. That's a large mountain of re-reading to look at when there's so much new stuff to read. Maybe just try the last couple books that came out before the ones you haven't read.
BTW, if it gets you moving, the ending was good and definitely worth reading!

It is understandable (for me at least) to have a lack of motivation to read The Great Hunt. The language (though beautiful and all) is a bit heavy. The pace of event is not really fast. And the most reading-block factor is the time gap between the 1st book in series and this one. It's been 2 years since I've read the 1st book and having difficulties with remembering what is what and who opposes who.

That's not surprising to me. This series got bogged down and IMO went nowhere for about 9 books. 9 massive books. Robert Jordan didn't seem to know how to end this thing. I finally gave up and just read the synopsis of the later books on Wikipedia.
I haven't read The Great Hunt but I had reading block after about the 4th WOT book. I started reading WOT series for the first time back in October. I loved the first 3 books so I bought the rest of the series in both digital and paperback up to the last one which wasn't out until the last of December and I pre-ordered it. BIG MISTAKE! From the 4th book on the series got so bogged down with secondary and minor characters and side stories that I was doing more skimming than actual reading and then I forced myself to finish the series to justify the money I had spent. If I had bought the books as I read them, I know I would have stopped after book 4 or 5.

It's because you're anxious to read the final book lol. If you don't want to re-read them, then don't. Not a big deal.
I got a block after the 5th or so book. Way back then, Jordan had announced he was sick, adding to my WoT burnout. I mean, why bother, if he may not finish? Plus, it was initially 3 or 5 books, then 7 and so on. Felt like a money making scheme.
When BS finished the series, I checked out the books from the library and timed my reading to coincide with when I could expect the get the last book from the library.

Considering that most of the WoT series is a slow build-up to nothing I'm not surprised. I'd recommend not reading it again. Books are supposed to be entertaining and/or thought provoking, not a chore.

Oh sorry, Beverly. . . it was meant to be a joke, but out of context of my other message, it must have seemed odd. I wrote a response to your comment
