I hate how my dad is going to die on a motorcycle!!!

I don't worry so much when my mom is riding with him long-distance because I know he's not going to threaten her life (not that the other drivers are going to be as safe), but when he's by himself, I know he goes VERY FAST. I hear him talking about it.

Then, when his brother was lecturing him about it right before the funeral of another brother this week, dad said he'd rather die on the motorcycle than in a hospital bed. He's only 52! And he said that God already knows when and how he's going to die! Like nothing he does or doesn't do matters!

HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!! In high school, I had to have a pager so that my dad could contact me when he heard sirens. I am incapable of passing in an oncoming lane because of how much he has guilted me and threatened me and not-so-gently reminded me to NEVER do so. It's the ultimate sin, apparently.

Please, anyone who lives in Oregon: never vote to repeal the helmet law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Motorcycles are scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Helmets all the way. They don't make you wear helmets in SC, and one time I was in Myrtle Beach for bike week* and my sister rode on the back of my friend Chad's bike all the way from the beach to whatever restaurant we were going to with NO HELMET! Freaked me out, man.



*I was actually in Ocean Isle, NC for a weekend getaway that my accounting firm sponsored, but I had friends at bike week, so we drove down to meet them. My boyfriend at the time drove his car down separately, and when we drove back, my sister and roommate REFUSED to drive my car home and let me ride with my boyfriend. I'm still mad about that and it was over 2 years ago.
