Nice Oda!
Nice Oda!
I`m starting a book club, IRL. First meeting tonight, nervous about how many will come. I have a facebook event people have clicked interested few have said they WILL COME, so curios.
Crossing my fingers.
I`m having it in a library and they have helped promoted the event, I have put up poster many places. So hopefully.
Do you guys have experience with IRL bookclubs?
I want to make it informal, and not make it feel like school.
I have planned a few questions in case, like, did you like the book, have you read other books by the author, what did you think of the title. etc.
Do you have any tips?

That sounds fun, Oda! I hope you have a nice number of people show up.
I've not been in an actual book club before, but I was in a writing group where we sometimes would all read the same book and talk about it after, so I suppose we were sort of a writing group and book club all in one, even if we mostly focussed on discussing each other's work, and giving each other writing tips.
Anyway, your idea with keeping things informal sounds good. My advice is to start with basic, "What did you think of the book?" type questions, and use the answers to prompt what comes next. If nobody's eager to share their opinion, try offering to go first.
If you're not sure where to start: talk about the kinds of things you'd put in a book review, except you can do spoilers to give examples of why you think the things you do about it, since the others are meant to have read the book too.
Although, this first meeting you probably just want to focus on getting to know each other a bit, picking your book, and that kind of thing.
Hope that helps.
Thanks Victoria. I have been going to a bookclub for 5 months now but O have never been responsible for one so naturally am nervous.

Nobody came! 🙄 Too sunny today I suppose. There was people at the library but nobody came to the book club.

hehe. Yes it is. I did get 9 hours of sleep night to monday though.
I usually go to bed around 2 in the morning after reading, but sometimes you just dont want to stop.

Awesome about catching up with your reading goal, Oda.It's always so hard to put a book down that you're loving, even if it's way past bed time.
Happy Independence Day to my USA friends on here (a day late!). Happy Thursday (also a day late) to all my non-American friends!! 😘
Jenny is here with her family visiting and holy moly we’re doing so MANY fun things!!
The very first thing we did was head to my local bookshop (where Diana Gabaldon is at constantly - so all her books are signed!). We had a blast! Later on, Tessa (Jenny’s daughter) and I went to the pool, while Jenny and her husband went to meet a friend of theirs for dinner.
The next day, they went to the Grand Canyon while I worked (boo to working), but they had a great time!
Wednesday, we spent the morning at the pool, then I grabbed a grandkid and Jenny and her daughter and me and my grandson spent the afternoon at the OdySea Aquarium which was AMAZING!! So much fun!!
That night we went to go-kart racing!! Well, they drove the go-karts and I took pictures. 😝
Yesterday, they were at the pool in the morning, and we went to the movie and since it’s a full gourmet dining experience (servers come to your reclining chair with food and drink), we had lunch while watching Spiderman: Far from Home! So good!!
Last night we went to a HUGE fireworks extravaganza at Tempe Town Lake as they had a festival with bands and then an incredible 45 minutes of fireworks set to awesome music! I’ve never seen anything like it!
Today, Jenny and her family headed to go see Sedona and Prescott while I recuperate from the busy busy days we’ve had. Lol!
Jenny leaves tomorrow and I miss them already. My Molly dog is going to pout because she absolutely adores them! Especially Tessa, Jenny’s sweetheart daughter.
Fun week with our Jenny!!
