Hi Natalie,I'm OK. How are you?
It's kind of chilly here, with a very chilly wind coming in off the ocean to make it feel colder. I never did get any snow though, even though they've been promising me some since Christmas. It's too late in the year now, so I guess I have to wait until next Winter... *Sigh*
Anyway, hope everyone is nice and warm, but not too warm... That's worse than being cold, in my opinion!
I am fine reading pushing the limits with a friend just waiting for her to catch up now just having a browse around Goodread and finding places what I didn't know about
Made a goofy mistake when I was organizing my books... I accidentally sent Shutter back to the library. Onto the waiting list I go.

Pretty sure I'm number one against several others.
Could have been worse... It could have been one of those books with a waiting list that's several months long!

Yay, Alison! I saw it on Sunday! I liked it a lot!
I just bought the 3rd Hobbit movie! I plan on watching this weekend. I saw it in the theatre but really love the rewatch at home! :)

24.99 box set of Percy Jackson books at WalMart. I almost bought it but I still need to read the first couple of books before deciding if I want it in my collection. Maybe once I've read more.
Victoria wrote: "I felt that way about the audio versions... Some things are stupidly priced!"Oh yeah! They are.
So... It's Friday night here and I'm trying to work on a project for uni but I can't find any theory on my subject *sigh*
I just realized there's a blog dedicated to testing out really old recipes from like the "Encase everything in Jell-o" era... A lot of these recipes have me mildly horrified.Prawns encased in jell o.
Karen: YAY for Hobbits! I'd planned to watch that when it was in theatres, but didn't get to go see it (missed out on a few movies I wanted to see, because of the move). Will get it on DVD soon though; I hope!

That's pretty cool!

It's both awesome and horrifying at the same time.
I have a question - what will the other books in April be? I can see there are four for March and I've only seen one for April? :)

We usually schedule other books whenever we have an author's Q&A during that month. For April we are still working on ironing out the dates for the next few authors. If we have any that choose April, we will then feature one of their books as a Book of the Month group read.
Great question, Irene!!!

Oh, okay, thanks Karen! Excited to see what the plans are. :)So... I'm probably the laziest person on Earth and I just really wanna get in shape, but that means I have to actually move.... I just hate to sweat, look stupid and get exhausted. Anyone else with this problem? :D
Irene wrote: "So... I'm probably the laziest person on Earth and I just really wanna get in shape, but that means I have to actually move.... I just hate to sweat, look stupid and get exhausted. I freaking DARE anyone over on DeviantART to make a snide comment about my Kindle ONE MORE TIME and see what happens.(Swear to gosh every time I post anything about my ebooks they get all elite snob on me for owning a Kindle.)
I don't mind the sweatyness so much, but I always feel stupid doing a workout; even more so if someone else is around to witness my pathetic attempts at exercises.I used to walk the dog a lot, because I found it was good exercise, but didn't make me look stupid. But now that I don't have a dog any more I end up going in to a cafe or something during my walk, just so I don't feel stupid for walking aimlessly. Unfortunately, going in to a cafe sort of counters my efforts at getting weight off; it wouldn't be so bad if they had more options that didn't consist of fries or pastries.
Also, because of health issues, I get tired quickly anyway, so the fact I need a rest makes it even more diffficult to resist going in to the cafe for a bit.

Why should they have a problem with you having a kindle? That's really weird!
I just wanna look like I did 1½ year ago :P Thinner arms and stuff... I'm just so lazyyyy.@Victoria I used to walk my dog too, walking alone just feels "wrong." I think you know what I*m talking about. And yeah, I feel stupid too! :P

I know right!? Every time I post about my books, or something their like: "Oh yeah I'll hold onto a library book until I'm done." Then I explain it's an e-library book and they make comments like: "I only read real books" and they never get it when I try to explain that, that's just how it works for me. I even said on one post: "Please don't make a remark about ebooks or Kindles" and what did someone go and do? "REAL BOOKS ARE BETTER THEN KINDLES" And wouldn't leave me alone. Either their jealous because they can't afford one, or their thinking their being "pure". Someone even said: "I guess I'm the only one who reads the Traditional way"
Just... I've gotten a lot of snark as of late and that seriously bothers me.
I use my kindle a lot, almost every day because it's easier to carry it around places then taking twenty some odd real books. I have a large real book collection too that's only just started so it's not like I'm only reading ebooks.
Irene wrote: "@Victoria I used to walk my dog too, walking alone just feels "wrong." I think you know what I*m talking ..."*Nods* Yeah, I know what you mean.
Storm wrote: "Victoria wrote: "Storm wrote: "I freaking DARE anyone over on DeviantART to make a snide comment about my Kindle ONE MORE TIME and see what happens.(Swear to gosh every time I post anything about..."
But even if you were only reading ebooks, what's it to them? For one thing, it's your choice, and for another... Wake up, people, it's the 21st century, and technology is everywhere!
Plus, what if you had a good reason to not read "the traditional way" as they put it? Like me... Do you know how difficult it was for me to carry a book with me before I got my kindle? Have you seen how bulky braille books are? We should give them a large book like "The Lord Of The Rings" in its complete form to carry around in braille... They'd soon be calling for an ebook version after that, let me tell you!
(As an example of how bulky braille books are... A small book like "The Tales Of Beedle The Bard" has to be in two volumes, and each volume is about an inch thick... I'm sure you can imagine how many inch thick volumes would be needed for something like "The Lord Of The Rings").
@Victoria - Oh wow, that's a lot! I had to google Braille Books because it didn't quite make sense to me, but now it does. Still, two inch-thick volumes? That's a lot for such a short book..
It really is none of their business how I read or what I read but they make a point to try to make me feel bad for it anyway. Sometimes I think they don't realize how hurtful some of those comments are. I don't snub them for not having Goodreads, heck I won't even snub them for reading something I hate. So they shouldn't be judging if they've never had problems that prevent reading regular books. Braille like you said, or allergies and asthma for me. (Yikes)
Irene wrote: "@Victoria - Oh wow, that's a lot! I had to google Braille Books because it didn't quite make sense to me, but now it does. Still, two inch-thick volumes? That's a lot for such a short book.."I wouldn't have minded if you'd asked; just so you knowfor future reference.
Anyway, yeah, it's a lot. It's because of the size of the braille characters, meaning it takes more pages to write something (like with large print vs standard print) combined with the thickness needed for braille paper to produce decent copies.
Storm wrote: "It really is none of their business how I read or what I read but they make a point to try to make me feel bad for it anyway. Sometimes I think they don't realize how hurtful some of those comments..."Exactly; it's none of their business!
I know what you mean about hurtful comments though. Unfortunately, there are people who don't think before they speak, and are hurtful without even meaning to be, and there are people who don't care if their comments hurt others. Worse still, there are people who delight in being hurtful to others. I think it's very sad that people can be so mean like that, to be honest.
Anyway, I'm sorry they're being so cruel, and that their hurtful comments are upsetting you so much. *Hugs*
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts Victoria. *hugs* Means a lot to hear. I'm still gonna talk about my books and if they're jerks about what format their on I'll just send them packing. Reading is one thing I do not want ANYONE to have any power to hurt me with.

I get a little bit of condescension for only reading library books. I don't want to spend the money and I don't have enough room for that many books.
I prefer dead tree/real books, but I have a Nook. Some books are only available as ebooks, when I'm tired or exercising I bump up the size of the text, it's super handy when I want to read in bed and when I go on vacation, it is great to just take my Nook and not several books.
* shakes head * But regardless, it's rude to say hurtful, judgmental things to perfect strangers. I like to think readers tend to be more educated and less prejudiced and judgmental, but that's probably just wishful thinking on my part.
Most are but I find most of the people who say these kinds of comments just... Either don't realize their being hurtful, or their trying to appear "cool". I read therefor I'm still viable as a reader... And I don't think any of them have goodreads either.
Storm, shake it off. That's why I love Goodreads so much! We are all like minded here! I'm equally addicted to both my ereaders (I have 3 of them!) and my print books (which I pet often!!)
I bought my first Nook for a beach vacation. The last one I'd gone on, I picked 5 books to take with me. As I was carrying my luggage to the car, I got weirded out that I didn't have enough to read and grabbed 3 more. I was only there a week, and had more books than clothes! ;)
The next year, I was flying and had to worry about weight. That's when I bought my first Nook and I've never looked back and now own tablets so I don't even turn my computer on over the weekends!
Those people don't have any clue what they are missing!! As Victoria mentioned, it's the 21st century.
And to each their own!! Geez!! Some people!

They want to appear cultured but instead they have no class.
