HI all! Haven't chatted in awhile!

I'm finally done with all my extra hours at work for a bit, now back to normal 4 days a week, although next week is only 3 days. I am working the next 3 weekends in a row, so I have most of my weekdays off, which is nice! Off the next 2 days (YES!)

This came just in time, too. Last night in the shower, a full bottle of shampoo fell down and landed right on the top of my foot! OUCH! It instantly bruised, and the cap somehow landed just right, so it also gave me a big cut!

I've been icing it as much as possible. It looks a bit better today, although still pretty gross. Its hard to put on shoes! And after a full day of work, it was all swollen up again when I got home. :( Putting it up now and icing it again!

The last few days the weather has been great here (especially for January!) and last night we grilled and I made a fresh salad to go with our brats and hamburgers! It was SO GOOD! Supposed to snow this weekend though!

Working on financial aid and planning for Alison's college next year, she still has to decide where to go. Just got done filing our taxes.

That's about all that' new with me I think!

I have an hand inn for saturday, going to a stand up tomorrow,and on wednesday seeing a opera show. Other than that, its been pretty cold this week,well to be exact its been snowing all week and Cold today.
Cant wait for NeXT week, no hand ins or responsibilities, off course I will have to read the curriculum but its Nice that thats all, nothing else I HAVE to do :D:D
Liking the thought that Jupiter ascending premieres Next week,and checking my mailbox for all the many books I have coming in the neare future.
Feeling: I`m good, a bit stressed now and then about School but mostly good.

Oda:Glad you're OK - apart from being stressed about school stuff (which can't be helped).

As for me.. I'm doing OK, though I'm a bit stressed. Also, I've had a toothache since the middle of December. The tooth has to come out, and because I'm anemic it has to be done at the hospital not the dentist, so I'm waiting to go to the hospital. It took until this week to even get a confirmation letter about the fact I'll get an appointment soon. *Sigh* So, I'm in pain with the tooth, and all I can do is wait, since when I spoke to my dentist a couple of weeks ago to ask if it would be much longer all I got was the very unhelpful advice that it "takes as long as it does" and I should remember that hospitals have waiting lists. I'm taking a combination of pain killers I'm having to buy myself from the pharmacy and strongly brewed camomile tea, and most of the time this keeps the pain at a tolerable level, but sometimes it doesn't really help. Yeah, that's right, the dentist isn't even providing me with pain killers.

I could have done without the distraction of pain right now, because I have a lot going on between writing projects, books I promised to review for people, things I want to keep up with online, and things I wish I didn't have to deal with in my offline life (nothing serious, just annoying and stressful).

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that Victoria! Can you try another dentist? Or at least see if you can get some pain medication from your current dentist?

Already tried. The other dentists are worse (one said to just leave it and save the hastle) and my dentist says what I'm buying is fine and she doesn't see why I need anything more (apparently "because I'm in pain" isn't a good enough reason). *Sigh*

The service - if you can call it that - we get over here isn't that great. Yet another reason I want to go back to Canada.

So here's what's going on in my life. I am finishing up my H*LL month at work. I have either had meetings that lasted until 9 or later, OR didn't have meetings but worked until 11 / 11:30 to catch up from all the meetings. Except for tonight when I collapsed on my bed at 6 and crashed. I was trying to take tomorrow afternoon off but since I took this evening off instead, looks like a full workday tomorrow. BUT the evening off gave me a chance to recharge a bit. ;) I hope.

In other news, the Super Bowl is in Phoenix this year!! It's also the Phoenix Open, so we have tons and tons of celebrities in town! Unfortunately I'm stuck working long hours this week so am missing out this year. Tiger Woods is here playing this week and to get to the Open, you have to drive near my house, so traffic is backed up like crazy. Maybe it's a good thing I'm safe and sound at home working! ;)

But yea, it's nuts here this week!

And Monday, I have tickets to go meet Marissa Meyer and get a signed copy of !! I'll bring my copy of and most likely buy the rest of the series for her to sign them all! Soooooo excited about that! Taking the 14 year old granddaughter too! It's also a "ball" but don't think I'll have any time to figure out costumes. Oh well. I think Marissa will understand. :) I'll post pictures next week! Eep!!

Hi everyone,

It's been a wee while since I was here last. Sorry I haven't posted anything recently, but I've had to disappear into my hermit's cave, which I won't be coming out of anytime soon, if I ever hope to get my second book finished by the autumn.

January's been a bit of a bleak month, juggling my writing time in between looking after sick kids, fighting off another fluey cold and dealing with a leaking dishwasher. I'm sure being a recluse isn't great for the old immune system. Will be glad when the dark nights and cold weather are past. January is usually a fairly depressing month for me, probably due to lack of sunshine living in Scotland. Think I need to up my vitamin D intake or give myself a good talking to.

Jenny - Ooh, your toe sounds really painful. Poor you! You're doing the right thing icing it and taking painkillers to reduce the inflammation. If the swelling doesn't improve after a week, you might want to get it checked just out in case. I remember once I slipped on a wet tiled floor and fell hard on my knee. I was limping about at work for a week before I finally got it looked at by a physio, and turned out it was a bursitis. Strapping and ice helped, but still flares up years later. Must be getting old!

Victoria- I feel for you, toothache is the worst. I hope you can get a hospital appointment soon so you don't have to suffer much longer.

Oda- Hope you enjoy your week off. It will be good to take a break from all you schoolwork and just have a bit of fun :)

Karen- Sounds like you've been having a pretty hectic time at work. Hope you get a chance to chill out and put your feet up for a bit over the weekend.

It's been snowing this week, but not what I would call heavy like the winter 2010/11. Doesn't look as if it will last, but there's still time for it to come your way. Sounds like you're missing it. Where down South do you stay?

Had to fork out for a new dishwasher in the end as it wasn't worth the expense of repairing the current one. Didn't want to take any chances after the disaster we had with the previous one leaking under the floor, which meant our whole kitchen floor had to come up to dry it out. That was a major pain.

Hopefully you'll get an emergency dental appointment asap, but then it is the NHS, so will keep my fingers crossed for you. Take care x

Good call on getting a new dish washer instead of attempting repairs that would have cost more and possibly not helped much anyway.

I'm down near Hastings, so quite a way South from you. They've been promising me snow since Boxing Day and I'm still waiting! *sulks* Plenty of storms, even some hail and a tiny bit of sleet, but no snow! I suppose that's what I get for living this close to the Southern coast. But they shouldn't keep teasing me with the possibility of snow if they're not going to give me some, LOL!

We've had lots of rain these past few days which sucks for all the Super Bowl events. Murphy's Law, right!? We beg for rain and never get it and the one week we want to keep our sunshine, it rains! It's supposed to clear up for the big game though!

Next week it'll be all sunshine and warm which is why I put up with the helacious summers! You guys can keep your snow! ;)

I saw that too, Daniel! I saw a picture of him digging a golf ball out of a big prickley pear cactus. (Probably Perry Prickler snagged the golf ball and wouldn't let go!) Tiger hasn't been here for 14 years and after this week, I doubt he'll ever return!! ;)

I normally spend at least one day at the Phoenix Open but had to turn down free tickets this year. :( Oh well. Between the rain and the crowds, (and I don't like Tiger anyway) I didn't mind too much.

Today we got hammered! We've gotten a foot of snow over the last 18 hours, and its still snowing, plus the wind is howling, making it drift in.

I had to drive 25 miles to work this morning, the am wasn't too bad, but the drive home was ridiculous! The visibilty wasn't great.

Its the very heavy, wet snow too, which looks so pretty, but its so heavy on the trees, branches falling everywhere. People are stuck all over town. I only made it home because I have a HUGE 4 wheel drive surbuban that can make it through anything!

(And on another note... Oh people who break DeviantART rules and then come knocking on my door when my best friend blocks them.... I'm not gonna help them and if they think after doing what they did that I'd treat them any different then I gotta laugh. Yeah I had someone try block evasion and not just that but this person had tried to steal my work previously. Little thief thinks guilt trips and crocodile tears work... She also brought her religion into it claiming that because of it I had to be nice to her.

Yeeeaaah no. Guilt trips and crocodile tears are never gonna work. Got so bad that I blocked them and reported them AAAAND changed my password)(I respect others religions but I can't help but facepalm when someone quotes the bible claiming I can't hold a grudge against them. They don't know me. I can hold a grudge for years.)
