Once Lila becomes friends with someone, she is very outgoing and can also be very sarcastic. She is also extremely loyal to her friends and family and will do almost anything to help them. Even though she is shy, she tends to draw people towards her due to her eloquent speech and manners. She is extremely polite and is good at talking to adults and fellow teenagers. One thing that Lila is definitely not is a push-over. She does not like it when people try to tell her that her beliefs are wrong. She often uses the phrase, "Let's agree to disagree." History:
Lila grew up in Caste 3. Her father was an extremely well known doctor and her mother was a writer/author. Between her two parents, they were often invited to gala's and parties where Lila had to socialize with adults. This is how she has learned how to talk to adults and be extremely polite. She also has a twin brother named Scott who she is very close to. Ever since they have been little, they have been extremely close. They did not get into fights often and had many mutual friends.

History:
She grew up with her parents and younger brother, and learned to play the violin under her father's watchful eye since the age of five. Because of this, she is extremely skilled at the instrument. She also has a sweet, pure singing voice, and is a talented artist. She is additionally a self-taught karate student. However, as of late, her family has been struggling. No one in her family has moved up in caste yet, and they want to see at least one person succeed. So they suggested that she enter the Selection. Her talents, they said, would surely help to win the Prince's heart. If it didn't... at least her talents would have the attention of the royal family. They figured that perhaps she could become a royal musician or painter. And so she entered the Selection, hoping to succeed and marry the Prince.

Personality: Seraphina isn't like most other 2's. She may be wealthy and never known what it's like to have an empty stomach or a bitter heart but she knows life isn't easy for the people who weren't born into wealth. She tries not to let it bother her because she knows no one wants her pity and there isn't much she can do without being kicked out on the streets to become an eight in all but title. So she does what everyone expects of her, she becomes the dress up doll and makes her parents richer. She hates being nothing but a pretty face and sees the Selection as a way to do something about it.

History: Seraphina's brother was killed then he was little by an eight invading their home in desperate search of food. Due to his death the eight was ultimately killed and her parents grew a hatred for everyone in the lower castes. Sera on the other hand, took the experience in an entirely different way. She wants to ease everyone's suffering by helping the seven and eights so they won't be so desperate anymore. She's still working on a way that will actually make a difference though and in the mean time acts like the perfect daughter for her parents to manipulate.

[History] On september third, nineteen years ago, Kalinda was born to parents Diana and Samuel Mayer. She was the second child, the first being her brother Jackson, two years older, and three years later they would both have a new sister. Jackson and Kalinda were very similar, and they always spent time together as children. They grew up in a not so kid friendly place, so they had their own fun while inside the house. They made up their own imaginary places and acted out plays, they played tag in their shared bedroom. They were hardly apart. They were like best fiends... For some reason, her step-mother didn't hate Eva, but Kimberly was still worried that when she was gone, Eva would become the scapegoat in the family.

He had been upset over some stupid fight with his dad and run off just before the alarms sounded. They found him but their guards were killed by the rebels and they only managed to hide him before they too were killed. From his hiding spot he saw both his parents slaughtered.

Appearance: Tara has brown hair which goes down to just below her chest but she normally wears it either up or in a plait. She has green eyes and freckles and has a very average figure which isn't at all plumpy but is still quite far off being perfect. Living on a farm she never really cared too much about what she was wearing as it would normally get dirty quite quickly but she favours wearing emerald green colours but it is not limited to that. Being a four however meant her family did have money for small luxuries so she had nice clothes and dresses even if she rarely chose to wear them. Even though Tara might not bother about her appearance she does look quite pretty and would look even prettier if she tried to play up her features.
Personality: Tara is generally a sweet girl and is sometimes a bit of a pushover. However this is not always the case because beneath that is someone who can be feisty and rough. She wouldn't think before getting into a fight which is one of her most fatal flaws but thankfully not much can get her to the point where she feels that punching someone will be the only way to get an outcome. Most the time she is a voice of reason, which of course, very quickly escalates sometimes. Overall Tara is a sweet person who is normally happy and does like to talk to people.

History: Tara was born into a family of farm owners and has lived on the family farm all her life with her three brothers and sisters and two parents.
Tara's father owns the farm business and inherited it from his parents. Her mother Sally was formerly a seven before marrying Cameron and becoming a four through marriage. Sally and Cameron met on the farm when Sally was working as a farmhand when she was 18 and Cameron, the same age was learning to run the farm. Although Cameron was practically Sally's boss they formed a very inappropriate relationship together and eventually Cameron didn't care what others may think and since his family was fine with it, he married Sally when they were 23. After a few years they eventually had Harrison, the eldest of the Hunt children and another 3 years later they had un-identical twins Tara and Karla then went on to have their 4 and final child 5 years later and Lucie was born.

Being a twin meant that everyone thought that Tara and Karla were very alike which couldn't be more wrong. Their differences went a long way past their hair colour (Tara had brown hair while Karla had mousey blonde hair) as both girls had totally different personalities. Karla like to look up a lot to the upper castes and loved listening to music and flicking through the latest magazine which she'd managed to get hold of and hated to go anywhere near the animals on the farm. In complete contrast Tara loved the animals and far too often than never she was out on the farm trying to help even though that was certainly not something she was expected to do but she enjoyed it and would much rather roll around in mud than look at pictures of girls with barely any fat on them.

When they heard about the Selection Karla was very excited about it and straight away filled in her form, it took Tara a lot longer to finally decide to go for it and she only did so because her family pressured her into it and told her that it would be a fantastic opportunity. She eventually gave in to them and signed up thinking that she would never ever get chosen. She had even gone to the photo with a small streak of mud on her chin because she didn't care.

When Tara found out that she had been chosen she had really thought they'd made a mistake and meant Karla but obviously that was not true and Karla was not very happy about it. After a while Karla eventually accepted it and so did Tara (she did secretly think the prince was just a bit hot) but she was really dreading having to wear pretty dresses for however long the Selection process was going to take. She went into it with her head held high and just a small bit of mud on her face.

Personality

Savannah is a very serious and determined girl, but she is very funny too. She's very playful and loves to joke around. Savannah was born in Caste 7 and remained there. Her parents were both workers at the mines, and Savannah joined in too. But Savannah knew as a little girl, that she wanted more.

When Savannah was just a little girl, she grew up in a poor reality. Her parents were barely able to support her, and she had come as a surprise. They were surprised, but they didn't neglect her or dump on her on the streets. Her parents were loving and kind, and even when they had a rough time, they would never blame Savannah. Savannah was happy. Even though she didn't have toys or dolls like other children, she had her family, and she could make new toys out of the simplest of things.

Savannah was bullied though. Her parents had worked so hard for her future, so Savannah was able to go to a school some days, but not every day. It was just so expensive. Because of this, Savannah got some knowledge into her, and became smarter. She had a bright future ahead of her.

As a teen, Savannah knew that she wanted to help her parents. She began to work at a farm, picking apples and such. Because she had worked in the mines, even as a child, she had gotten a lean body, a very fit body. It made her able to do stuff other girls couldn't do. Savannah earned more money at the farmer than her parents, and she was able to support her. But then came the ultimate opportunity. The selection. She had never thought about it, and even though Prince Dante seemed like a real catch, Savannah had never thought about falling in love with him. She had never been in love before, only Alex was her friend. She thought, as a girl from Caste 7, she didn't really deserve love. But against all odds, she was selected, and went to the castle.

Weaknesses

♦ Savannah’s insecurities may sometimes lead her into taking the wrong decisions. She pushes people away instead of letting them in, and pushes herself too hard because of that. She wants to do everything by herself, when she should really let others help.

History: Hattie was born into a family of sixes but her parents only had one child. Her mother and father had both been a cooks for a family of three's all the while trying to raise Hattie at the same time.

Everything was fine until Hattie was 14 and had just started working as a housemaid, no doubt pleasing the family as they had an extra worker. It was on a day when the family were all out and a rapid fire broke out in the kitchen while Hattie's parents were in there. The fire was very big and they couldn't contain it and sadly both Hattie's parents died having not been able to get out quick enough. The fire services arrived just as Hattie was attempting to get into the kitchen and save her parents which was why she ended up with burned hands and jaw. After this incident the family of three's could not stand to look at the girl who's parents had ruined their precious house. Personality: Kaylee is first and foremost a backstabbing bitch. She will do anything to get what she wants and most of the time she gets it. On the surface she will seem like a nice, sweet girl who will do anything to make friends and have a laugh with them. It is true that she is nice just not towards people she may see as being a threat towards her or people who appear to be an obstacle in her path to success. She will try to make friends with everyone but what they do not know is that she would just turn on them to get whatever she wants and she will use them to achieve whatever it may be. At heart Kaylee is really a very kind person and if she does legitimately like someone she will be warm and have a nice genuine chat with them. She is (so far) impervious to love or any such emotions, as she considers them worthless, and believes that they can weaken one's resolve. The one thing that makes her smile is the thrill of battle. She doesn't enjoy killing, but fighting makes her blood pump, and fills her with such a thrill that is unequaled by any other feeling. She is extremely brave.

History:
When she was younger, she was thought of as a ruffian and a disgrace, because of her wild ways. She would purposely get into fights, and commit similar behaviors. Finally, she caused such a ruckus that she was thrown out of her hometown. She decided that she wanted to protect people... but didn't know how a female could get such a job. Eventually, she accepted that she would have to be a boy. She bound her chest, and pinned her hair up, hiding it beneath an intricate helm that she had stolen from her father. She used her only funds to buy armor and a weapon, and presented herself to the royal family as a wandering adventurer seeking a job as a castle guard. She didn't speak (so as not to reveal her obvious feminine voice), but pretended to be dumb, writing out her words on a piece of paper. They were doubtful due to her "impediment", but after she demonstrated her skills in combat, they hired her straightaway. No one knows yet of her gender. She goes by the name of "Adrian Estrantheon".

She mostly wears short shorts, skirts or dresses that show her long legs and loves looking pretty. Her lips are full and red, her cheekbones high and elegant and her eyelashes long and curling. She has golden tanned skin and wears minimal makeup. She doesn't need to, honestly.

Personality: Lena is confident, sweet and caring. She is smart, hardworking and athletic. She wants to win this competition, but frankly, she isn't too bothered about it...her family is doing fine. She would rather marry for love than just because she was pretty or something. But still, she thinks she could definitely love the prince... She is determined not to turn into a backstabbing, manipulative snake that most girls turn into. She would rather not win at all than win dishonestly. Lena is a little bit harsh and sarcastic, but she doesn't mean to be. Lena was always pretty. Ever since she was little she was the centre of attention. Adults always told her how beautiful she would grow up to become, just like her mother, they would say. The beautiful Aria Hawke merely shrugged the comments off, modestly. However, when Lena turned seventeen, it became clear that she truly was beautiful, even more so than her mother. When talk of the selection came about, Lena was the talk of her town. No one was really surprised when she was chosen, although they all waved her off. Fondly at the station. Not only was Lena beautiful, she was also kind and compassionate, and everyone loved her.

Lena and her brother were extremely close, and grew up fighting, playing, arguing and sharing everything with each other. They grew closer as they grew older, and Alec was probably the saddest to see her go. Her parents were happy and hopeful, but he...he would miss her the most.

Personality

Rosemary needs to keep her mouth shut sometimes. Seriously though. It's not like she talks much, but it's more like she needs to keep her anger in. Because Rosemary is fierce. She isn't afraid to speak up her mind when she doesn't agree on something, even with her employer. This has gotten her hurt several times. She knows it isn't good, but she cannot help it.

She cannot help it, because she doesn't think it's fair that the castes even exist. She knew that, as a girl from Seven, she barely had a chance to work up to a four, even a five. She doesn't think it's fair, and that is where her anger comes from.

But behind the anger and the constant frustration, Rosemary is a gentle soul. She loves to read and to paint. She has tried to make it in the painting business, but it's too hard for her, as a girl from Seven that worked herself up to Six by becoming a maid. Even though her life is hard, she is a girl who will always look past castes and won't judge anyone on their past. She is sweet and kind and will do anything for the ones she loves.

History

Born and raised in Caste Seven, Rose grew up in a world where she grew to believe that she didn't have a future. Her parents both worked at a local farm, where they were paid a low salary. Rose knew that they deserved better, and that they deserved better. The Selection wasn't her thing, and she knew that the Prince wouldn't find her pretty enough. So, she decided to learn how to clean and how to speak properly and became a maid at only age 14.

Her little sister was born when Rose was already working at a family in Caste Three. She really wanted to see her little sister on her birthday, but she wasn't allowed to each year. One year, she got so angry she disrespected her employer. The result were the scars on her back. She had always known that she shouldn't stand up so much, and that the Carson Family was a very cruel one. The dad had whipped her and left his marks. This is why Rose finds it hard to trust and people touching her can leave her... flinching. But she got over it, and worked her ass off to get out of that house. She got a job at the Royal Palace and became one of the maids for The Selection.

Weaknesses

♦ Rosemary get's angry too often and too fast. She really needs to control that, otherwise she might get fired.

♦ She is really insecure too. Not only about the marks on her back, but also about her own caste. She doesn't judge people on their caste or past, but she just feels insecure about her dreams and hopes, especially because she comes from caste Seven.

He is also really good at helping girls when they are going through a crisis and need a shoulder to lean on. Most people think of him as the 'fun and flirty' guard. He grew up with Dante, seeing as they are very close in age. They used to be good friends, but as Dante got older, they drifted apart. Even so, if they see each other in the hallways, Dante will give Xavier a friendly greeting. He has grown up in the castle his whole life. His mother goes around and helps out wherever help is needed. She is sometimes in the kitchen, other times helping some of the Selected girls. His father is also a guard, but takes his job extremely seriously. Xavier has always looked up to his father and wanted to be a guard just like him. Personality

Matt has two sides to him. On one hand, he's very serious and takes his job seriously. He will do anything to protect the Royal family and the Selected girls. He wants to be proud of himself, so he does his job well. He's very protective and brave. He will do anything for the ones he loves, too, so that can cloud his vision as well; seeing as he needs to protect the Royal family first.

But on the other hand, Matt is very playful. With girls, or just a girl he likes, he can joke and mess around. For him, it's easy to let go off his serious side with a person he feels comfortable with. When he trusts you, he will easily let go off his serious nature and will tell you his feelings. He doesn't tell his feelings that easily, but he doesn't mind showing his more vulnerable side.


History

Matt was born in Caste five. His family was wealthy enough to make a living and support an education for Matt, but Matt knew that he wanted to help other people. Protection had always been a side to him. His parents didn't want him to be a guard, but he went into training and became one anyway. When he was a young boy, his little brother drowned in the river and he failed to save him. He still feels guilty because of it, but it only made him more determined to train and become a guard. He wanted to protect people.

So when his training was over, he knew that he wanted to get higher up. As a man from Caste Five, he knew that he could do more; that he wanted to provide for his family. So, he worked harder and harder and finally made it to the castle. Now, every month, he sents some of his payments to his mother, father and little sister. His work is a reminder of little Benjamin, but he knows that he should forget about the fact that he drowned. Benjamin passed away, yes, but he wasn't guilty of that. Matt has a hard time remembering that though.

Weaknesses

♦ Matt is a self-sacrificing person. This is very brave off him, but sometimes very stupid. He will do anything for other people, and rather sacrifices himself than someone else. This was triggered because of his little brother's death.

♦ Matt is not really able to let go off his past. The things that happened still have a huge impact on his decisions .Like his brother's death, his parent's disapproval. It's hard not to think of that when he's making a huge decision.
