Without thinking too much about it, she slipped her shirt over her head and dropped it beside her, lowering herself to the floor. She was wearing only a bra now. The tiles felt cold against her stomach and a chill ran down her spine. If Drayven wanted to kill her now, it would be all too easy for him. Lexi pushed that thought away quickly. Crossing her arms in front of her, she leaned her chin on them and tried to breathe deeply.

She was trying very hard not to arch her back and cause Drayven to mess up. Her genetically enhanced instincts were telling her to run, to get out of there, and it took a whole lot of self control to stay still while the knife bit into her flesh.

Nodding, she cleared her throat and hesitantly said, "Ok. I wont." She looked down at the blood-covered tracker that had been under her skin only moments before, "Thanks." She said softly, looking up at him.

She didn't know what to think of her new arrangement with Drayven. He seemed nice, and definitely capable enough to protect her. But he also seemed guarded.

"I have an important job for you." Drayven started with a huge smirk.
A boy with greasy hair that stuck up from all ends along with goggles strapped to his head jumped down. "Drayven! Long time no see! What trouble have you gotten into that needs my work?" Jace asked with a huge smile that went from ear to ear.
"I have a tracker that needs to be placed in the gang zones."
Jace took the bloody thing from him, turning it side ways and all other directions.
"What's the price?" He asked.
"On the house, you help out around here far to much for me to charge you."
Drayven smirked, "Thanks. And don't get killed for it, or shot. I hate pullin' out bullets."
Jace nodded, "Sounds like a plan."
With that, Jace and him parted ways, Jace getting on moving it right away, and soon, it was in the heart of the gang zone.
Drayven went back to the apartment after running a few errands to get some food and then some girl clothing,

She looked up as Drayven walked in through the door. She smiled up at him from the couch, "Hi." She started, "Is it gone?" She asked, hoping he had gotten the tracker somewhere far away. She glanced briefly at the bags in his hands, curious of what was in them.

He got her clothes? That means he spent some of his money on me... or he stole them... Regardless, Lexi was thankful for the change of clothes. She was really tired of her old outfit.
She liked the thought of being taken care of, even if it meant she couldn't do much. She hadn't been cared for since... way too long ago. She smiled up at him. "Thanks." Raising a brow, she added, "Did you just call me Stitches?"

Lexi realized she was thinking about him, and she shook her head, looking down at her feet.

Drayven passed out on the chair in a very strange angle, not have gotten much sleep the night before because of the man. He sighed in his sleep, his legs separated, one up on the arm while the other fell off.

Lexi's eyes slowly drooped and she fell asleep sitting up. Her head rolled forwards as she slept. She slept well for the first couple of hours, deep in a needed sleep. Around three in the morning the nightmares came. She fidgeted in her sleep as she dreamed of her parents dying, she watched as their car crashed. Then she flashed to another scene, where her sick sister slowly grew weaker and died. She was crying in her sleep now. Then she watched as dark people chased after her older sister with a gun. Then they came for her.
Lexi woke up screaming, drenched in a cold sweat. She clapped a hand over her mouth to stop the scream, hoping desperately that she had not woken Drayven up. She was shaking badly. She burried her face in her pillow to muffle the sounds of her sobbing.

Drayven did wake up from the screaming, him falling off the chair and onto the floor, his eyes wide. He quickly got up and looked around, the TV and lamp still on so it wasn't dark. He looked over at the sobbing girl, knowing she must have had a bad dream. He walked over to her, watching her cry into her pillow. "Hey...." He said in a soothing voice, reaching over to her, but not touching her yet, not knowing if it'd make it worse. "I won't hurt you.... It's Drayven.... Will you let me touch you?" He asked as if he was talking to an injured puppy or scared child. He knew for a fact though, after a nightmare it could turn the largest man into a two year old.

Lexi felt embarrassed that she had woken him up, but she was still rattled from the nightmare. All of the images she had seen were vivid in her mind, as if they were reall. She nodded in response to his question. It wasnt him she was scared of at this moment. In fact, she was dying to be with anyone right now. She was trembling all over.

"Come here...." He whispered bringing her in for a hug, but careful with her back. He had her face closed to his chest, stroking her hair softly. "Are you okay?" He asked softly. "Have a nightmare?" He was very gentle with her as if she was a porcelain doll. He looked down at her, his hair sticking up from many different ends and small black streaks down his face. He didn't dream, and you cry when you don't dream.

Lexi welcomed the protection his arms offered. She burried her face in his shirt and tried to calm down. "Yes." She replied, her voice soft. "But it wasn't just a dream. It had all happened before." Her voice wavered slightly and she had to pause for a moment, letting the tears fall from her lids. "It was my past." She finished. She hadn't told anyone that before. That her past gave her nightmares, but it was true, and Drayven was being so gentle with her, so she didn't hesitate to tell him the truth.

Drayven nodded, sighing softly. "You had a hard life.... I'm sorry for that." He tilted her chin up a bit so he could look into her eyes. "Look at me and believe me while I say I will do my best, use everything in my power to protect you." He said, "You'll never have to face anything alone again." He was putting down his shield. "The nightmares happen a lot when you finally get away from what you're running from. But when things start to get better, you'll star having dreams or not dream at all." He said, "That's how it was for me anyways." He smiled a bit, "You can tell me anything, and if you want I'll even tell you some stuff about me, to keep it even." He winked.
He looked at the clock, "Do you want to use my bed? I'll even lay in there with you." He said. "Protect you, tell you a story so you have something to think about, play some music that'll calm the mind and muscles." He listed off thins he could do for her as if he had always been doing things like this when he really hadn't unless the people he took care of were very young.

Lexi was somewhat surprised at his eagerness to help her, but she was more than grateful. She nodded in response to his first comments hoping desperately that he was right about the nightmares going away. She was scared of them, yes. But mostly she hated them because they were a reminder of all she had been through.
She was even more surprised at his second offer, and she felt bad taking up so much of his house. She didnt deny that his offer sounded really nice though. "I dont want to kick you out of your bed..." she started. She didn't want to admit how much she wanted Drayven to stay with her, just in case she fell asleep again. "But if your seriously offering, everything you just said sounds really nice." She said honestly, blushing slightly "But dont do anything you dont want to do, just for me..." she said. She felt badly that she had taken over Drayven's life so much since she got there.

Drayven nodded to her, "Alright, but just know I want to help you out." He said standing up and putting his arms under her to pick her up bridal style. "Come on, let's go to bed. You can have the covers and I'll stay on top. I don't move much so I won't smother you." He smirked and placed her down on the bed pulling the covers over her. "Alright, happy story or true story? Well.... True story being one of mine." He winked. "And I'll give you a better one." He sat down next to her and smiled lightly. "Want the lamp on?"

Lexi curled up on the bed, shifting a bit to get comfortable. "True story." She said, smiling a little. She would way rather hear something true about this boy she was living with. She hadn't heard much about him so far. "And sure, as long as you don't mind..."
She shifted a little more, being careful not to bend her back too much. She was more than a little surprised that Drayven wanted to help her and was so friendly only two days after they met, he didn't seem like the type of person who would look after someone else. But she was in no way complianing. It was nice to have someone looking out for her for a change.

He nodded, sighing softly and thinking about what story to tell. If it was going to be a good story, it would be one from when he was younger. He didn't want to bore her with the story of how he got his bike, that was more of his own special thing. He looked over at her, putting his arm over as if wrapping it around her shoulders, but not touching her.
"Well, when I was about 10 years old, no, I was 9." He started, "My father, mother, and brother were all in the same room, the living room. It was my brother's and my birthday since we were twins. He had snuck, down there which got him in trouble, which is funny. When I went down though they seemed to be happy now that we were together. The two of us didn't have many friends, but my mom and dad usually spoiled us with gifts because of that. Usually stuff we could play together. We got this new game station and our favorite game was Halo." He smiled.
He kept telling the story, the happier stories the ones that he couldn't very well remember because they had been so long ago. Especially if it did with his family. He often had to say different things that were true while the others were just haze.

Lexi listened intently, the sound of his voice was comforting. It served as a constant reminder that she wasn't alone, and that this was actually happening, and not just some strange dream. It was weird to hear about him being younger. She couldn't imagine him as a small child for some reason. For as long as she had known him, he had been un afraid and seemingly invincible, everything that a child was not.
Being one of three sisters and the middle child, she knew what it was like to have siblings, but she had never had a brother before. "You're a twin?" She asked in mild interest. She had never known anyone that had a twin before. "That is so cool! Did you have some sort of psychic link like I've been told twins have?"

Drayven looked away from her, a frown on his lips when she asked about the psychic link and things. He closed his eyes, not wanting to say some of the things that he has done to him. Well, what Derek did to Drayven. He looked over at her, "I'd kill myself if we did. And for some reason, he knew.... I-" He gulped, "He knew that I liked guys too, and not just girls before I told him." He looked over at her, sighing, "My brother and I hate each other."

Lexi looked down at the sheets, running her finger over a wrinkle in them. She suddenly regretted asking what she did. She didn't mean to dig into a painful subject like that. "I'm so sorry..." She whispered, avoiding looking into his eyes. She hoped he was not angry at her for digging into his past.

Drayven shrugged, "Not much of a secret." He said sighing and leaning back. "It's alright. He's a little brat. I would sell him but that's against the law now." He smirked. He looked over at her, "And I'm sure your past is worse than mine so I don't mind sharing."

Lexi smiled a bit, relieved that he wasn't angry, but still feeling very guilty. She nodded slowly, but she didn't want to say that her past had been worse than his, because she didn't have the slightest idea of what he might have gone through that he had not told her about, and because she didn't want to show off her past. Having a horrible childhood was not something to be proud of.
Swallowing slowly, she decided to take a huge risk and actually tell him her story. "My earliest memories aren't that bad." She started, not about to turn back now. "I grew up in the country with my parents and two sisters. We had a dog, and a very fat cat..." She smiled at that memory. "When I was 11, both my parents died in a car accident. My eldest sister was old enough to care for us, so we stayed at home. But after the first week... she ran away." Lexi bit her lip. "I haven't heard of her since. My youngest sister and I were left to fend for ourselves, and we did alright for two years. That was until she started getting sick. I didn't want to find help, because, well.. they would take us to an orphanage. But she was getting worse. I saw an add in a newspaper for a job that would get me enough money to take my sister to the hospital... well it wasn't really a job. The labs were looking for a willing subject to test on. They promised it would be safe, and that they would save my sister. So I went with them. I found out a month later that my sister had died..." Lexi paused, emotion swelling in her throat. She wasn't going to make this a pity party though, so she tried to manage a small smile.

He listened to her story, frowning and reaching over, stroking her face. "I'm sorry to hear all of this." He said softly. He smiled at her though, "We'll make good memories though. You'll have a nice life here and we'll have some fun." He said laying in a more comfortable position. "You know, a bad past sucks, but it also makes you stronger for the future. You know more things by learning from mistakes and things like that." He sighed.

His touch sent shivers up and down her spine, but for the first time ever, they weren't of fear. Lexi grinned up at him, trying to make light of the situation, "Wow..." She breathed reverently, "That was deep." She let a sly smile play on her features, pushing all sad thoughts away.

He laughed, "Well, I used to write a lot when I was in my first home." He said with a shrug. "And just talking from personal experiences."

Lexi smiled, raising a brow, "Writing? I totally did not think of you as a writer..." A hollow knock caused Lexi to stiffen and sit straight up. Someone was at the door. Her heart beat frantically and her eyes grew as wide as saucers. Only now did she notice that it had already grown light out. "Oh gosh..." She bit her lip. Whoever was outside knocked again, "Crap!" She looked wildly at Drayven for what to do. She desperately hoped that it was just one of his friends coming to pay a visit, and not the cops. Regardless, if anyone knew she was here, that would be bad.

He listened to the knocking, sighing, "That idiot got hurt." He got up from the bed, putting his arms under her and placing her into the closet softly. "Even if it's just one of the idiot guys they'll be asses about you." He smirked. "Just stay in here." He said softly. "I'll take care of it."
He walked to the door, rolling his shoulders, rubbing his eyes because he was tired. He opened the door, "What did you dumbasses do this time?" He asked not even looking up.

Lexi watched him leave, her heart pounding. She couldn't see anything from her spot in the closet. It was dark and smelled like dust and mothballs. Her mind ran wild, imagining who could be at the door. She was afraid that someone would find her here, and she would have to go back to the one place she hated most.
She bit her lip. What if someone finds out that Drayven's been hiding me? What if they hurt him because of me? What if... Lexi didn't know why she was suddenly so worried about Drayven. He doesn't deserve anything worse because of me. He's been so nice to me. Lexi reasoned. I would hate to betray his trust...

The boy looked up, fidgeting slightly. He was younger than Drayven, and would have avoided him completely if not for the bullet in his calf. "I got shot." He said simply, cautiously surveying Drayven.

Lexi heard muffled voices in the other room, but she couldn't make out what they were saying.
