The School for Good and Evil Series by Soman Chainani - Restarting August 10th 2018

It could be because the books I'm currently reading are either sad or boring. This is either, it's fun an entertaining :) .
Read up to 15% [the boys bring problems chapter XD]

Christina, you were right, this is a good read. The sad part is that if it wasn't for your book shelf I probably wouldn't have decided to read this one. I saw it a long time ago and decided to skip it because of the cover. I thought this will end up to be another juvenile children's book. And the compaction with Harry Potter didn't make me run toward it either. But this is so much better than HP. The characters are complex and interesting and you don't need to read 6 books in order to see them develop. So, thank you for this :D .["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Ooh glad to hear you're enjoying it so far!
TBH, it would've been sitting on my shelf for a long long time had it not been for the challenge xD
I agree the cover looks juvenile but as we all know, we shouldn't judge a book by its cover hehe

So true :) .
Yet, I cannot stop doing it. Pretty covers often fool me :( .
@Jada, yes, it's chapter 5. You can read more if you want. I needed to stop because it's late in Romania now and I need to go to bed XD.

End of chapter 2: The blurb pretty much gave the first part of the plot away (which did make me want to pick it up :))

End of chapter 3: those textbook names are hilarious!!

I'm listening to the audiobook so no illustrations for me :(.
I find Sophie interesting. She reminds me a lot of Cecily from "The wicked and the just". In her own twisted way she really thinks she's doing the good thing XD.

I'm done with this and I'm done with this series. The beginning was very entertaining and until ch 12 or so I actually enjoyed this story very much. After that the story transformed from "The school for good and evil" into "How to ruin a perfectly good story".
Spoilers will follow:

*sigh* Very, very disappointing. I was hoping to read a story, what I got was a fairytale, a really bad one at that. At the end of the day nothing of importance was learned here. Good is beautiful and evil is ugly. That's it. Wow, thank you author, for teaching our kids how important it is to be born with a pretty face and if you are good it's ok, because you will get a pretty pace, because of your soul, right? Such bullshit.
@Christina: I'm sorry I didn't wait for you, the story was really interesting and I kinda got sucked into it. :(

No problems! I'm still reading some other books so taking this book a bit slowly.
Sad to find it was disappointing :( Let's see how I find it ;)

Maybe you'll like it more. Story base it was still interesting, but the characters were disappointing. At least for me. I had high hopes for them XD.

I'll probably pick it up again on the weekend xD

@tessa
I won't expect too much of the ending then
So far it's sitting on 3 stars though because i find it sort of ridiculous x_x

Oh, that's awesome!
I've glanced at a few of the comments above--I'm not sure what people found in this that I haven't, because I'm really enjoying the stereotype breaking and the "fairy tale rules" bending going on. Of course, apparently something happens at the end that I haven't got to yet... XD Regardless, I've had a ton of fun reading it so far, so if you DO pick it up, hopefully you like! :D

Oooh, I hope you enjoy it! :D I know some people didn't like it, but I was thoroughly entertained and loved all the idiosyncrasies that were introduced!

Oh no! I did that with Cress when I first started reading the series a few months ago--couldn't remember the order so started with it instead of Cinder. I got like...halfway? Through before I realized my mistake haha.

This year, best friends Sophie and Agatha are about to discover where all the lost children go: the fabled School for Good & Evil, where ordinary boys and girls are trained to be fairy tale heroes and villains. As the most beautiful girl in Gavaldon, Sophie has dreamed of being kidnapped into an enchanted world her whole life. With her pink dresses, glass slippers, and devotion to good deeds, she knows she’ll earn top marks at the School for Good and graduate a storybook princess. Meanwhile Agatha, with her shapeless black frocks, wicked pet cat, and dislike of nearly everyone, seems a natural fit for the School for Evil.
But when the two girls are swept into the Endless Woods, they find their fortunes reversed—Sophie’s dumped in the School for Evil to take Uglification, Death Curses, and Henchmen Training, while Agatha finds herself in the School For Good, thrust amongst handsome princes and fair maidens for classes in Princess Etiquette and Animal Communication.. But what if the mistake is actually the first clue to discovering who Sophie and Agatha really are…? "
Me and Christina will be reading this. Feel free to join us! :)
