I didn't really like this one to be honest: i felt like she was spoonfeeding me. Already from the start you get the feel that she's the vampire (perhaps the introduction didn't help because i got into vampire/werewolf spotting mode) but having it pointed out so many times, and then even literally at the end - i didn't really like that.

Well... there is a lot of magic encased there :)

Yeah, I was expecting Lindholm to debunk a Big Myth or re-write a stereotype. But given the spate of sympathetic, sacrificial, lovelorn vampires out in the market these days, the very obvious "twist" didn't quite strip away any stereotypes but maybe even reinforced it.
Edit: 1.5/5 stars

Uh oh. You seem to be unimpressed with the Lindholm stories too!

(a) I don't read short stories generally (b) urban fantasy isn't my thing (c) I'm a stingy bastard with ratings. So, that's three strikes against me as a reader. So, my "un-impressions" don't really count...

I enjoyed the 3 stories in the realm of the Elderlings, but i found everything else written as Lindholm was a bit mediocre.

Alfred, I don't read short stories much. They're just too...short (I like to take my time and get to know the characters). I'm also not a fan of urban fantasy. (Hey, 2 out of 3 ain't bad!) I'm probably more generous with ratings than I should be, but then, I've never -- oops, make that almost never have read a book with nothing at all to redeem it (Fenimore Cooper is an exception). Even the script of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child", fanfic though it be, has something that made me say, "OK, I didn't totally waste my money." (but it was close)
