What specific book are you looking for? Then I can help you get more info. Most of what's available I tried to post on my blog via those links above.
I mean which ones do you want me to find you more information on. Since they are different publishers I have to go to different places to find information.
Of course, recommending things before having read them is not guarantee... but I can go with things I know about the books and the authors. I would not suggest "She Walks in Beauty" for you by Siri Mitchell, her books are all a little to harsh in historical reality.
One from Waterbrook/Multnomah that should be good for you is The Confidential Life of Eugenia Cooper A Novel.
The various Tracie Peterson books from Bethany should be on your safe list. I have never been uncomfortable with any of her historicals, just her contemporary books. I would assume that the repackaged editions from Kristin Heitzmann would be good too, but I do not know I have not read them.
Looking up at the first post of links here, most of these books are sequels, so you could judge them on your opinion of the first book or the author. You might find Amber Miller too sad for you (war and separation from true love). Authors that should be good are: DiAnn Mills, Mary Connealy, Amanda Cabot, Ann Shorey, and M. L. Tyndall. ...

I know what you mean Heidi. It's just funny to me because I find that some of the Amish books are so harsh and unforgiving in particular circumstances, where with the TP books I feel like there is always a redeeming quality outside of the one really bad bad guy. Maybe it's just the Amish books I chose to read.
In general I can give you a better handle on what the books will be like after having read them, rather than just a blurb.

I just finished The Brides of Gallatin trilogy and I think, based on your comments, that you would like them. I didn't think they were heavy on death or sadness, it is just mentioned as background and the stories are light, some humor and great overcoming of fears by both the guy and the gal, with happy endings and great sense of community. I also think you would like two Deeanne Gist books that I LOVE: A Bride in the Bargain and A BRide Most Begrudging. Great historical romance of the period that you like. Which I also like. The pioneer/settling the west era is my favorite (but also regency England) and one in that era that I really liked alot by Marcia Lynn McClure is Dusty Britches.

Sandie - I just started a thread on The Brides of Gallatin County, under Tracie Peterson as a topic. FYI

I'm so excited about all the books coming out soon!!! I'm currently reading The Silent Governess by Julie Klassen and I really have enjoyed her other two titles, I'm sure this will not disappoint.
Would anyone be interested in participating in a Christian Historical Fiction reading challenge for 2010??

I just started a Christian Historical Fiction ning for discussion, come join me! http://christianhistoricalfiction.nin...
I plan to host details for a challenge here...

I got that one and her The Apothecary's Daughter for Christmas!! Can't wait to read it.

I could not finish this book and tried three times! I have no idea why that is... I loved her other two books. Like they were favorites for me, but not this one.
I really liked it, but then I really have always liked the Jane Eyre type story... so that might have something to do with it.
