Did you count them...some times if a word or phrase is repeated til I want to scream...I go back and start counting how many times it is used...then add to the tally as the book progresses...sometimes it amazes even me how many times they can be repeated in one book!!! At least it wasn't...the boy...or something totally annoying like that!!! BTW...I really did enjoy Crossing Borders...I thought the scene in the bookstore/cafe was hilarious!!!

I did enjoy it too, don't get me wrong. And no, I most certainly did not count them! There were 3 in a single sentence, so I can't imagine trying to go back and count them all!!

Hahahahaha!!!! I have read several other books by this author and I am pretty sure this particular problem did not occur in any of those!!! As a matter of fact I have always given Ms. Maxfield a 4 or 5 starr rating...always an excellent read...not sure why this one was so....annoying...thank goodness none of the others were!!!

Just starting this book and I've yet to meet Michael but I'm just coming off a weird juxtaposition of name frequencies...
The Butterfly Boy went the entire book without disclosing the eponymous character's name. And Wholehearted featured a gay-bashing victim where the narrator and the paramedics used the character's name a half dozen times before we even get to meet him conscious.

Just how egregious is the over-use of Michael here?

I would say the overuse if flagrant enough to drive you slightly mad, and if not, the profuse occurrence of 'sparky' should do the trick. Also, if you aren't into topping from the bottom, the sex gets a bit off.
