Absolutely. There's no point in giving the universe any ideas.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Sounds like me on my bike during an Iowa summer. *Spits out bugs.* Shadfly season is the worst.

Félix (habitseven) Janine v. insect life.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments At least she didn't have a couple of WEDDINGS in her dream!! Humph.

message 406: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) True that.

message 407: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Do you know that little restaurant flash game - I forget what it's called - where you have to serve lots of tables?
I had a dream last night that I was working at the bar and it was basically that game. People kept coming in and coming in and coming in. They kept changing seats, and trying to order all at the same time, and I couldn't keep up. We had a night like that the other night in real life, but no fair for it to make me work in my dreams too!

A friend plays that game, and it sounds similar to what you just described."

Yep! That was the one. My sister showed it to me. I played for a few minutes, then decided it was too real.

I was at a book club meeting. My mother was there; I took her book from her. It was wearing a little sweater. I pulled off its sweater. I had drawn some pictures; a hot guy I knew from high school was in the club too and he asked to see my pictures. One was of some Polynesian-style statuary. He told me it had "caustic thighs."

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Sounds like the name of a band.

message 414: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Sarah, that's not a dream, it's a nightmare! *hugs*

message 415: by [deleted user] (new)

I just had the weirdest nightmare. I can't go into the detail because it related to something that happened when I was young. As is typical of nightmares I was running away from something, running and never quite escaping, always finding things blocking my path. The really odd thing about the nightmare was that in the end I ran into a group of policemen. A young female took me aside, we discussed the problem and she offered a solution. Then I woke up extremely relieved. I have never had a nightmare that had a satisfactory ending before.

message 416: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) That's really cool.

message 417: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought so too. Thanks Larry.

message 419: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Gail--It sounds like the dream helped you to see a long-ago event more clearly and process something from your past.

message 420: by [deleted user] (new)

I hope you got to enjoyed your afternoon nap Carol.

Maybe you are right Cynthia I was a little wound up after I woke and couldn't get back to sleep. I came online to post the details, it was 4:30AM. When I did go back to bed I slept very soundly.

Wow, nice resolution, Gail.

I dreamed I was in this large public library that had undergone severe budget cutbacks so they could only use about 25% of their space. Everything else was dark and closed off. I thought, "this is a shame."

message 422: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Fascinating dream, Barb.

1. My sister was washing an opened package of oreo cookies in the dishwasher. I got extremely angry.

2. Kenneth Branagh went by me on a horse, leading a procession. Emma Thompson was a few riders behind him. He looked really young, but she had a few wrinkles and lines around her mouth. The next rider was performing dressage; behind her on the horse was a squirrel, standing up, and another, smaller animal was holding on to the squirrel. Some tourists drove up and asked me where the Corn Festival was. I told them I was just a visitor too and I didn't know. They pulled out a postcard which had the address of the Corn Festival on it, something and 19th Street. I pointed in the direction of 19th Street.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Okay. But I'm not getting the bath salts--you might abuse them. The loofah seems like a fairly safe bet.

message 439: by Jammies (new)

Jammies I'm not getting the cast-iron frying pan! Too many possibilities for domestic abuse. I'll get the matching "Kiss the Cook" aprons.

I'll buy them some silky sheets.

This is interesting, Buns. I have similar dreams...like when I'm supposed to be somewhere else and there's no way I can get there. My therapist (what, Britt's the only one who can talk about this type of thing?) pointed out that this mirrors my anxiety...like there's nothing I can do but I'm expect myself to do the impossible and feel guilty when I don't. I'm not saying you have the same background, by the way, Bunners.

Sarah | 13814 comments Last night I dreamed that my sisters and I drove to New York. We were going to stay in a hotel. We looked and looked for parking, and I finally found a very strange spot, which looked like a left turn lane (not that you see those much in Manhattan) but had a little placard right on the pavement that said it was okay to park there. So I parked the car there, even though it kind of looked like it was in the middle of the street.
Then we went shopping and went to a movie, and came back to the car only to find a $280 ticket on the dash. I looked at the parking placard again, and realized that I could pick it up, so I took it with me, and proceeded to walk all over the city explaining the injustice of it to everyone, including cops and meter maids.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3594 comments That's an interesting dream, Sarah. Have you figured out what it means? It reminds me of parking on Canal Street in New Orleans when I was nineteen. There was a small sign that read No Stopping. I'd never seen one of those in Georgia, and there were other cars parked along the curb, so I assumed it meant that no loitering was allowed. Came back from Bourbon Street to find that the car had been towed. Signs can be tricky.

message 444: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I had a strange dream last night. I dreamt that I woke in the middle of the night and looked out the window at the neighbor's across the road. There were strange circles of lights in the yard and there were people dancing around the circles. It was some kind of satanic rite. They started to cross the road and onto our approach. They noticed me watching them dance along our access road to the upper pasture. Somehow, when they got to the pasture, my husband and I were with them and scared.

The dream then shifted to being captured. Someone managed to help us escape and took us to her house which was by the airport. There was quite a group of us. We couldn't leave the house and get to the plane and freedom because the cops were watching the house. It was decided that if we went in small groups of 2 or 3, we could sneak out unnoticed. I was in a group of 3 on a motorcycle. We hadn't gotten very far when a police vehicle approached with sirens on. We tried to outrun them. The cops were shooting at us and we were shooting at them.

I haven't been able to shake either dream all day.

Hopefully posting the details in here will help Janice. It did when I posted a nightmare in here recently.

message 446: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) My dream early this morning (while sleeping in a hotel room) was that as we were getting ready to leave the room, the maid suddenly came in, along with three strange men. The men sat around the room and talked only to each other in some foreign language that I couldn't make out. No matter how much (or how loudly) I insisted they leave immediately, they would not acknowledge me. It was as though they couldn't see or hear me. Quite disturbing.

Then I woke up.

I dreamed that I was watching a TV reporter do a story, at night, in someone's yard. Except he had no face - his head was just completely emptied out. It had a top and a back and maybe an inch or two on the sides, and he had a normal neck. We could still hear him talking, though.

It was immediately obvious to me where this dream came from - yesterday I saw this news story about a Time magazine cover featuring a young Afghan woman whose Taliban husband had cut off her nose and ears. The photo just won a press award.

Village Elders Order Ayesha to be Disfigured by Husband

Ayesha was married when she was just 12 years old. She endured years years of abuse. At times she was forced to sleep in the stables with animals. After she tried to run away, she was caught, and the village men handed down their sentence. Ayesha's husband sliced off her nose and ears while his brother held her down.

Sarah | 13814 comments I had a dream last night in which my car wouldn't start and it was parked on a street where I knew it would get towed. I ran up to the three women in the tow truck that was starting down the block and explained to them, and they offered to give me a ride to my garage since they were going to have to tow it one way or another. Civvy of them.
