I'm looking for two books with 6th grade (maybe 7th?) in the title of the first book and 9th grade in the second. The first book is about a boy starting middle school. He is rivals with a girl in his class and he pulls pranks. One is him and his friend putting ants in a brownie dish and serving it to the class. Everyone thought the brownies were really good and I think thought the ants were raisins. It ends with him starting to like the girl.

In the second book they start dating. It gets into more adult issues like sex. Him and the girl break up and he starts to date another more "experienced" girl. I think they end up having sex but he eventually breaks up with her and gets back with the first girl. Other than that I remember bits here and there like the two of them playing scramble. The girl having a recital or concert and ended up being late for the school dance which irritated the guy and led to her breaking up with him. The main character was also on the football team and hangs out with his guy friends a lot. Any help is much appreciated! :)
