Great to meet you, Mark, and as a born-and-bred Dub I hope you've enjoyed your seven years here.
Sci-Fi is my favourite genre, and I enjoyed Goodreads to expand my horizons. It's been great and I've read some brilliant books I never would have looked twice at because of it.
We're in the middle of choosing our March monthly read, and that might be a great way to start branching out. You'll receive the group message shortly about the poll.
Again, it's great meeting you.

RE sci-fi -- have you read the Wool trilogy by Hugh Howey? I got the first one ("Wool") on Kindle -- it's free actually -- but haven't had time to read it yet. I think it was Swift (?) who said that it would be best if, when you bought a book, you could also buy the time to READ it!

Yeah Caroline I've driven past Markethill loads of times over the years.
The Wool trilogy is great. I picked the first book up early last year I think. I really liked it and finished the third one not long after it came out.

He struck an amazing deal with a major publisher, where he got to continue selling the trilogy independently on Kindle, but they are publishing the print versions.
Yes, you'd easily drive past Markethill -- not a big town! :-D Was seeing a fella in that area, a dairy farmer. We're still great friends.
I'm Mark. I'm a writer, originally from Co Down but I've been living in Dublin for around 7 years now.
I read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy but I'm always open to new genres. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all and hopefully getting ideas for new great books to read.
Cheers,
Mark.
